  1. Thanks for the link Maineah, wooo those guys are expensive! What a PITA, hopefully we'll find something that works for less than a buck twenty five a foot....
  2. Man Turtle, you must have some serious resources to have Nova Star pics lurking around I mean, they're functional but. pretty?...No. Thanks for the links I had seen all of them but the ap products one which might have what im looking for the clip-in (actually alot of other sites had it too but flat, it looks like it will have a round profile, the illustration on the AP website makes things a little clearer). Looks like the clip-over might be tougher to come up with. While you were researching, I was taking pics...here are a couple of crappy ones . Note the square profile on both. The clip over appears to be longer on one side than on the other, maybe to accomodate glass overlap.
  3. Good read, We saw/corresponded with a *very* similar individual about an '89 Sunrader that was listed on an RV classified site. A couple emails in I told my wife to stop corresponding with the individual as it was a scam. Right off the bat some of the language used raised red flags for me, then the whole deal with ebay motors, the vehicle being shipped and the owner being out of town were just too fishy for my tastes. Bottom line: IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS If you have some time on your hands, this site is pretty entertaining http://www.419eater.com/
  4. So what do thes alu tracks & vinyl covers cover (other than the screws that hold in the track)? Is it purely cosmetic? Or does it provide mechanical fastening for two parts of the fiberglass shell? Im having a tough time finding replacement vinyl for my Nova Star (there are two types, A flexible single piece U-channel with outer flanges that pops in to the alu track, and a u-channel with interior flanges that pops over the track). Most of the flexible stuff that I see in rolls at RV supply places is flat that pops into a channel....seems like this *might* work for some of it but there is alot of it missing from the rig and Im not finding replacement vinyl for the pop-over stuff. It seems like someone was a little over-zealous when they decided to add this 'feature' because it is everywhere.... What Id really like to do is pull it all off, fill the zillion screw holes with white pigmented epoxy and then some day, down the road paint the sucker.
  5. Yarp, mine is FRP Id say that the bow near the unit (in the center of the roof) is about 1/2" (maybe a little less but noticeable)....funny that there is a bow in the roof with the aluminum x-members. One of these days Im going to pull that ceiling off and redo 'er. Ill poke around and see if I can find a similar gasket - sounds like it might be a quicker fix (although regardless of what I do, Ill have to un-do the 'work' that the previous owner did.... Got to tackle this before it starts raining here in oregon (soon).
  6. What a fantastic resource turtle, thanks! I had no Idea this search existed - Ill take a peek. Looks like dodad has a few left too although shipping from right coast to left might be spendy..
  7. So it looks like these guys are not stocking(manufacturing?) these any longer. Any other lines on 6 bolt rims?
  8. Thanks guys, I took another look at my setup and found 1) two of the bolts that hold the ac down were loose, so I tightened them and 2) my unit is installed in a similar method to Bodybagger's except with plywood and some black tar looking sealant. Im hoping that tightening it down will work well enough for the rest of this summer (what little we have left) and then Ill rip the existing installation out and try the Bodybagger method. As Tom mentioned, Im interested in knowing more about the high density foam...what color is it? Blue? I know there are a handful of different kinds out there but Id rather not buy a sheet for something that I can find a scrap of. Also, how did you manage the corners? Since my roof is fiberglass, what do you guys think of glassing a dam in on top?
  9. We just bought a Nova Star that leaks at the rooftop ac installation. I thought I read somewhere that you could use vicor (vycor?) to reseal them in place of a rubber gasket....is this possible? Any other tips or tricks to resealing these? Also does anyone know what the construction of the roof for these rigs are? Im guessing plywood laminated to the glass but the roof is sagging at the ac (which is probably contributing to the issue) and Im hoping that I dont have a rot problem. The roof 'knocks' solid. Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks! Just bought an 87 Nova Star thats been sitting for awhile, so Im sure that Ill have tons more questions
  11. Any idea if these will work on an '87 Nova Star (front wheels, 6 bolt pattern, one ton chassis)? We just purchased one but it doesnt have a spare. Our local Les Schwab is scratching their heads trying to figure out a rim to use. Someone told us that the rear duals were a one piece and that we should just keep a front spare. Thanks in advance for the help!
