  1. I should have known the 22RE is a 4 banger, as I drove an 88 Toyota pickup with the 22RE for over 300K miles, well that is when the odometer stopped working. Kept driving the Toyota for another 4-5 years as a "farm truck". Thank you Linda for the reality check, I unfortunately know some of the trials of RV's, let alone an older RV. The main reasons we are looking at the Toyota motor home is the Toyota realibility, smaller size and decent gas mileage for a motor home. Granted I don’t know much about motor homes, but I'm a quick study with extensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fabrication experience. I realize that more than likely if we find a Toyota motor home that I will end up overhauling it myself. Our previous RV experience was buying a 20' Sunline RV camper that looked nice in and out for $6,500. We lived in it for 3 months until our ranch in Idaho sold. During those 3 months everything that could stop working did, but no noticeable water leaks. I replaced what I couldn’t repair and $2,500 later thought we had a really nice camper. We then listed it for sale thinking it was a good deal at $7K. A buyer stopped who knew where to look for water issues, to inspect it and educated me on the invisible water damage that existed in our "really nice camper”. To make a long story short, we sold the camper as is to a friend for $500. Thank you both for your input, I appreciate your honesty, in this upside down world it's very refreshing! Shawn
  2. Hello All, We are searching for a later model year Toyota motorhome with the V6 22RE and a 6 lug one ton dually axle. We currently live in Pennsylvania and hopefully can find a good motorhome on the east coast. That said we would make the drive or flight most anywhere for the right motorhome. If possible, we would like to purchase a renovated / overhauled motorhome to limit water damage issues that we wiould need to deal with. Any advise anyone may have on purchaseing a Toyota motorhome will be greatly appreiciated. Thank you in advance! Shawn
