  1. If thier in good shape get a high quality masking tape and tape over them. The tape will say good for 14 days or some thing along those lines. Home depot/Lowes carry it. Comes in various widths. If you want it gone,go to a body shop supply or a good automotive store. They should have decal removing solvents or a rubber disk to put on a grinder that will get the most hard to remove decal off. I've used a heat gun to take them off but it's hard on your hands and will ruin the paint. Fast. Steve.
  2. Two Kellys--Being from Canada and having lived in the US for 23 years before moving back I can understand your frustration. Think how upset the Canadian who was comming back from Mexico was who spent 2 weeks in a US jail when he was stopped at the border for a minor 1 pot cigarette charge that was 20 some odd years old and was a CANADIAN offense. Drunk driving in Canada is a Federal offense like bank robbery and still they drink and drive here. As Nibs said it's a two way street and though it was always there it was only heavily enforced when the US demanded it. Steve.
  3. You Sir, are a brave, brave man. Rebuilt a few collectable trailers and know what you are going through. Steve.
  4. Tom--Sunrader Bob on the yahoo site has one.Get in touch with him and he'll tell you about them. They are very rare. Warning-- Any time you mention Sunrader to Bob make sure you have a comfortable seat and something to drink. You will be there for a while. Steve.
  5. Bunneys--Thanks for your note. You must have found an old thread of mine. Up until a year and a half ago I lived in the U.S. for 23 years.Once in a while I like to point out that the free medical, ect. up here isn't as free as everyone in the U.S.thinks it is.It sure is great though. Came back as I hadn't see the family for 20 years and it was time to retire. I'm working with a guy on the other Toyota site to buy a 1984 Nissan Sunraider. The price is right and it is all fiberglass. There was a Toy. in Seattle at one time that I looked at and it needed a 6 stud axel. Do you have your passport yet.June first is the deadline. My son lives in New Hampshire and is Mr.Toyota.Mostly Land Cruisers but he drives toyota pickups and repairs them when he has time. Kind of hate to tell him I'm buying a Nissan since there is a good chance he will be picking out my nursing home when the time comes. I'm in Cresent Beach and I'll keep in touch as there are a few toyota/mini motor home owners in the area and maybe when I get mine there are enough to get our own group going. Steve.
  6. T.A.J.-Not every one lives in Heaven. Just a lucky few. Steve.
  7. johnbutch-Daniel at www.giantrockrv.com has them or www.customcommercialwheel.com may. They do have them for american trucks. These are bolt on adapters that most people use. They are safe. Hope this helps. Steve
  8. Robert-Looks great and your still a member.Sweet. Steve.
  9. Perry-WOW! I've seen some blow out damage over the years. Every one is correct.Take it apart, look at the damage and make an informed decison. I've restored a lot of cars and you have to weigh the repairs against the replacement cost. My trade, for fourty years, was restoring antique furniture.I learned over those years there was very little that can't be repaired When you have to make a part for something made in the 13 hundreds and it of course has to be perfect it makes your hand shake as bad as yours must be. YOU CAN DO IT. Steve.
  10. Fisherman120 Yes I would guess car sales at the moment are hard. I waited to put my Soc. Sec. in, here in Canada and the fact I lived in the U.S. for 25 years is giving them fits. They just aked for a list of every place and the dates I lived for the past 65 years. They got all 18 of them. My Mom is 97 and still active and filled in the early years. I hope they hurry because I'd like to find a toy. and get working on it and that's where the money is comming from. Steve.
  11. Shoprat.-The car and truck people always stay with one color or at best a two tone paint job for cost and good looks.Graphics of some sort are used to enhance the job. Steve.
  12. Hi Dennis--That is why I asked if it was imported. The door is on the left so I thought more of England but the Japanese bought English cars before they made thier own so they were stuck with right hand drive. When you look at the first picture I think the steering wheel is on the left. What a great trip. Can't wait to see his pictures. Wish I knew more about the satellite system ADEL wants to put in.At 65 I'm trying to find my way through a computer for the first time.I'm sure the whiz kids will set him straight. Steve.
  13. Chris--What part of Canada are you in. I'm in B.C. south of Vancouver. Looking for a motor home too. The best bet is in the U.S. since something magical happens when they hit our border and the price doubles. Steve
  14. Adel-What ToyoGuy means is was your motor home shipped to Kuwait from the U.S. and do you see other Toyota motor homes over there like yours. Are they made there or imported. What is the length bumper to bumper? We think driving across the U.S. or Canada is pretty good but to drive through 10 or 12 countries is something else. Is Kuwait your home country? I'm in Canada on the Pacific coast in British Columbia. Hope you have a fantastic trip and keep us up to date. We'll have to take the trip with you through you computer. Steve.
  15. Sunrader Bob in the yahoo group bought it.He collects and deals in them. This was a rare one.He bought it at the last second he said. Fisherman 120--Have you had a chance to work on your project? Steve.
  16. Hi Jeff--I got to cleaning my wood working shop and didn't get back to you. Seems the answer to turbos by themselves here in B.C. is they are sold with the engine. If the engine is bad they are taken off and put on a good engine. Try the People I told you about.I only called the big Toyota autowreckers in B.C.,mostly around Vancouver. The other ones are more likely to part things out with a "help you out" idea of business. I saw some of the same ads you did.You could buy a real nice motor home for some of the prices I saw.It seems $6,000 is a cheap gas to diesel conversion.Put a computer and trans swap with adapters and all the small parts you need and some of them were up to $10,000-15,000 for a 4x4. Look the sites over. The front clip[called a half clip]is 4-6+thousand alone. Some of the guys who wrote about it said you had to have an engine built for a turbo or you would put to much stress on the pistons and crankshaft. I've studied this myself because I would like to have one.My sons answer is why?He may be right! Steve.
  17. THE SEA BREEZE SCAMMER IS BACK! CHECKED OUT PORTLAND ORE. CL SITE AND THERE WERE TWO ADS ONE AFTER THE OTHER. V6/56K MILES/TOYOTA SEABREEZE 21' MOTORHOME $4820 USA NEXT 1993 TOYOTA MOTOR HOME $4799 USA THE PICTURE IS SEVERLY CROPPED.I THINK IT IS ONE OF THE OLD ONES.SAME PIC BOTH ADS. STEVE. P.S.REPORTED IT ON YAHOO AND SOMEONE CHECKED AND THEY WERE ON 50 DIFFERENT SIGHTS.
  18. Jeff--Two more I missed. Toy Works 4WD Technology Orangeville Ontario 519-938-9844 Toyworks Newfoundland 709-895-6123 Steve.
  19. Jeff--here are some sites you can try.I am in British Columbia and we have a lot of Toyota trucks here.Don't know how many have turbos but there has to be a few.Good luck and let me know if I can help. http://www.southislandimports.ca--big yard www.toyotafiberglass.com--may have parts http;//www.hondatoy.com toyota 4x4 center 250-851-4480 www.uautoparts.com www.recyclexchange.com www.usedautopartsnetwork.com--covers Canada I think. www.partsrequest.com Talked to my son who is greatly involved with Toyotas and he said you might want to look into using propane enrichment. It seems you can use propane to help the diesel burn better. He said a kit is $650-700 or you can make your own for under $200. It involves a propane tank, some rubber or steel line,a gage for gas welding and a solanoid to shut the gas on and off as it goes into the engine. Quite popular with his 4x4 crew and a whole lot cheaper than a turbo.Dave said there is a lot of info on the net about it. I'll call some local wreckers Monday and see what the story is.If I've messed up some of these let me know. Steve.
  20. Robert--Unless there is damage that can't be seen or they were going to replace the inner fender at the cab and they had to lift the cab, that price seems high to me. As I said before I'm not a body man. I repaired my Dodge van a few years ago after I hit a moose The drivers side was pushed into the dash.It crumpled in about 2in and the floor and fire wall buckled. The est. from my buddy wasn't that high And the outside price wouldn't have been that much either.I would keep trying to find someone else to repair it. Did they give you a detailed repair est.or the good old "it should be about this much". I would think for that money, they would be going to replace the cab. Steve
  21. Beehaven--Have you mentioned the fact that you belong to a North American wide Toyata Motor Home web site with a 1,000+ members and you have mentioned thier company on the web sight and every one of us is waiting thier answer.Might not hurt to tell them that the Yahoo group will hear about it as well. If the trans guy is independent he might not care.If it is a chain like big O, head office may not share the, don't care idea.Big O,s H.O. might not care to have thier name going to that many potentiol customers either. I have had pretty good action when the corporate people find out.The local people don't care till the heat comes down from the top. Steve.
  22. Maldune---I mess with antique cars a bit and after that amount off time I am afraid you are right. The gas in the tank is like shellac and anything between the tank and the carb is the same. My cure is taking the tank out and cleaning it,new filters and a carb rebuild. If your fuel pump is electric you may be able run it in clean gas to clear it out.Not much I do has one. The gang will set that straight in a hurry.Congrats.on your new motor home. Steve.
  23. Suprcar.-- Shop rat and every one else is right in my books. You know the Toy. Get a couple of prices from the body shops in your area. I've done a lot of body work but it's not my trade.Restoring my nephews 46 Chev.2 ton truck at the moment. It just takes time and not a foot of snow Give time a chance to take care of the shock.I've rushed off and done things that turned out not to be the right one just because I hurried. A few year ago I worked at a job and one of the bright young sparks that worked with me kept a close eye on me to make sure I was doing my work and his too. After carefully looking it over he said 'Pops you don't move to fast'.I felt called upon to inform him if he saw me moving fast he should stay 10ft. in front of me and never look back and he would be safe. Same rule works here.Don't look back.Stay ahead of the problem. Steve.
  24. Strassy I'M THINKING OF PUTTING A DIESEL IN A 4X4 FRAME AND PUTTING A TOYOTA M.H. ON THAT.IS YOUR DIESEL WORTH THE EFFORT OR ARE YOU BETTER OFF WITH A GAS ENGINE?I WOULD THINK A TURBO MAKES ANYTHING BETTER. STEVE.
