  1. Take your seats to a good upholstery shop and have them rebuild it with shaped new foam and new material. That way you know it fits right.
  2. Remember the inverter runs from the house battery. The solar panel just recharges the battery during the daylight hours. To run your computer, tv, heater and lights. You will need a solar panel of 75watts or so to be self contained. A 75w panel is like 4' x 2' WME
  3. On most engines the valve lash increases as time goes on. On a 22R they decrease as things wear. The clearance should hold for 30,000 mi or so.
  4. I don't know about truck campers, but most MH the AC fits a standard 14x14 opening. You should be able to move the AC for the cost of a new vent assembly and an AC gasket. You may be stuck with you camper until spring, not a big market now. Everybody is hording their bucks to see what happens to their job and stuff.
  5. Can you remove the cannister and see if you can drain it by turning it up side down?? May a small ice pick hole and when its empty use epoxy to seal it.
  6. The best band aid is a tarp , or parking the Toy on a slant. You have seen the results of the PO band aid so you don't need to go there. Remove the vent, clean to bare metal, reseal with new tape. Put Dicor sealant on each screws before installing them. Then after the screws squeeze out the excess putty trim it flush with the frame. Then use Dicor and seal the edge all the way around. Put another dab on each screw head.
  7. I went to Wal-mart and bought 2 of the Tent LED lights they had. They have a bunch of LEDs in each one. They are about 5-6" around. I added a bias resistor and run then of 12v. While not as bright as standart lighting they do very good.
  8. A razor blade to cut around the frames. A drill with a wire wheel will clean off the bolt/screws so that you can remove them and the frame. Clean is important befroe you reseal. Have fun
  9. Basic idea is bad. BUT many of us have done this. What ever you do DO NOT BOLT THE HITCH ON THE BUMPER. The hitch must be welded on the frame, but the frame itself is weak and so are the welds that connect the extension to the original truck frame. SO you have to weld reinforcements to the extension before adding the hitch. Even so only very light things go in the cargo box. Rember leverage if the wheel bounces an inch the cargo box is going to be moving 3-4" and if its too heavy there is a LOT of strain on the frame and the stuff in the box
  10. A bigger battery (s) is a good plan. Also cutting down the drain works too. Install florescent lights or even LED to reduce major drains. Change to an LCD TV instead of the projector The stock converter will take 2 DAYS to recharge a depleted battery. Driving the engine will take 2-4 hr. Remember courtesy says the gen goes off around 9 PM.
  11. The normal ratio for the 6 bolt is 4:10. Take the old rear and put a piece of tape on the pinion flange and a piece on a brake drum. Turn the brake drum 1 turn and count how many times the pinion goes around. The common ratios for a Toy are 3:90, 4:10, 4:56 and 4:88. Should be easy to figure out.
  12. OK if its faster in 4th than 5th, next step is to change the rear axle ratio. What ratio was in the "stock" rear vs the new 6 bolt?? There is not much you can do to make it more streamline, adding hp to a diesel is real money. The quickest thing you can do is make the best of the HP you have. You need to do the math and see what RPM the engine is turning at what speed. Re-gear the rear-end so that the engine is making max HP at your desired cruise speed (say 60 mph) in 5th gear. Maybe even use 4th as your cruise gear and use 5th for down hill and tail winds. Just as an aside a lot of the bigger diesels use a shot of propane to increase HP going up hills. Know anybody with a propane tank
  13. Dump a load of diesel injector cleaner in the fuel tank, make triple sure your air cleaner is clean. Diesels LOVE lots of air, so any little thing can have a negative impact. Also a 2.25" or so exhaust is important. Will it go faster in 4th than 5th????
  14. FWIW When I made my jumper I used a 5 amp fuse. It will blow if I try to start the engine with out removing the jumper. Sorta an idiot restant thing and I don't end up with a dead truck battery on the first trip of the year.
  15. The shore power does NOT charge the truck battery. You can jumper across the isolater when its storied to let it charge the truck battery. Just remember to remove the jumper when camping season rools around.
  16. In one of the earlier posts bear said he was going solid state.
  17. Yep 4th wire goes to exciter wire on alternator
  18. Install some neutral vynil flooring, very easy to clean. And it won't clash with your shagged sides.
  19. Actually the 20r has a twin row chain and the early 22r's do also, sometime around 83 Toyota changed to the single row chain. Also sometime around 85 the 22r went from the short block to the tall block. Of course all the chains are different. So the correct drill to to LOOK at your engine. So I'm GUESSING nibs needs a single row, short block chain set.
  20. Take off the cam cover and look. While its off you can check the guides with a flash light.
  21. My Escaper has a factory extended frame. They used two pices of L shaped sheet metal. The Toy frame is sorta a C shaped. The frame was extended 12" the metal plates are 18" long. One plate is welded inside and outside to the frame (4welds). The other is just welded on the outside. So togather the extension is a boxed frame.
  22. My 86 Escaper also has the axle on top of the springs. It looks like flipping the axle would give you about another 4" of frame clearance. Mite be a bit tippy in the wind if you flipped the rear and raised the front end to keep things level.
  23. A hundred amps in is about 1000w out. As Maineh said most coffe pots are 1250-1500w. Your overtemping your inverter.
  24. I have a 7" run to the inverter. I used 0/0 cable and at 100amp draw it is staying cool
  25. Shoshoni WY. May 26-28, 28th Annual State Old-time fiddle contest. Y'all come
