  1. I found an amazing mechanic in Martinez, CA who did all my engine and suspension work, this Summer: Fuel Pump, Water Pump, New Belts, Shocks and Air Bags. He doesn't have much space, nor a bay that allows for motorhomes, but he did work on my 87 Sea Breeze, to get me back on the road. Try calling The Car Doctor to see if he has space to help out. They are the nicest people in that shop, ever! Also, there is a Toyota Shop called Dex's Automotive in Pacheco, CA (between Concord and Martinez I think). He is one of the best Toyota repair guys ever, but also does not have a bay tall enough for RVs, but he may be willing to to do the work, anyway. Also, if you have AAA or Good Sam RV roadside assistance they can find you a shop or even send someone out to where you are. Sadly for me, I didn't have either after putting my Toy on "Non-Op" while in storage over the last 2 years. It was such a struggle to find anyone willing to do the work... Hope this info helps you or someone else in the future. πŸ™‚
  2. I got the same Nexen Rodian Load D Tires from Simple Tires and was able to have them shipped to my Toyota mechanic who installed them/balanced, etc. Then I went to Les Schwab for the alignment. It was interesting to learn that here locally in the CA Bay Area Sam's Club in Concord and Vacaville and Concord would not install RV tires, and Walmart also told me no, but I can't recall which location I called. Maybe Sam's Club Install RV tires in Oregon. If so, Sam;s Club had crazy low prices on Nexen in August... In any case, you can also get Les Schwab to order the Nexen tires and do the install, and alignment all together. That may be a less expensive route than what I took because I needed to get tires quickly. Plus, you could get all the perks that come along with Les Schwab tire purchases. I really liked the Simple Tires experience and while it took two visits to Les Schwab, and I had to learn and then explain to the young guy at Les Schwab how to get the alignment correct, the staff are so genuinely kind and helpful. - and I'm loving my Nexens!
  3. Thank you for your insights, AKPirate! You raise a very interesting point. I'm pretty sure the repair/rebuild will be pricey having someone else do it, so if I had a space (driveway, land, warehouse, etc.), locally, I would probably tackle try to tackle at least some of it...I'll keep you posted if I end up tackling anything myself. I just watched your awesome videos!!! Clearly, I need you and Austin as neighbors/friends! Then, I could help you guys, while learning a bit from you about rebuilding, before tackling stuff on mine. I guess I'll settle for just watching your videos to continue to watch and learn from you. Very cool!
  4. Thank you for this advice! πŸ™‚ Yes, it is indeed just wood framing and siding that need to be level, etc. just like any home. I will start calling around to carpenters to see if they can help, and I'll keep my eyes on this forum in case anyone has a local motorhome repair resource or carpenter they have worked to recommend.
  5. Hi! I am new to posting on this forum, but I have been reading and learning so very much from all of you brave and smart Toyota motorhome fans. I have a 1987 Toyota Seabreeze Model 800 (rear bath/front kitchen) 4 cylinder 22re automatic. I'm in the SF North Bay in Marin County. It looks like I'll need to read this thread to find out who else is in the North Bay, so we can meet up and share some learnings, etc. I'd love to start a semi-annual camping meet up, if one hasn't been started already. I also have this silly dream of renting or buying a private storage warehouse with some other Toyota enthusiasts, so our happy little Toyotas could be kept out of the weather so they last longer, and to have a space for working on them... Here's my little Toyota getting its new Nexen tires aligned. Those are just two tiny steps of many in my very long Toyota Rehab Journey that I'm on...(Phase I Summer Stuff: 7 Nexen Roadian Tires + 2 new 31 AGM Duracell/Deka/East Penn Batteries + New Go Power! 30 amp Auto-Transfer Switch + New PowMr 30 amp Solar Charger + New Renogy 3K Watt Pure Sine Inverter + New Denso Feul Pump + New Denso Water Pump + New Drive Belts + New Alarm System (w/ Kill Switch and Extra Tilt Sensors, New Rear Bilstein shocks, New Airlift 5K Ultimate Air bags, etc.). For Phase II, I'm now hoping to find a resource to remediate/rebuild dry rot damage to passenger wall and small section of driver cab side before that spreads, before re-sealing roof, and before the actual super fun Phase III automated solar panels adjustments and interior remodel.
  6. Thank you to all the active posters in this forum!!! I have been learning a ton from each of you, including what tires to buy the value of my 22RE engine, and how not to totally panic as I work to bring my 87 Seabreeze back from almost 2 years of neglect during Covid, and a ton of damage my RV suffered in a "secure" storage this year. It is now in a new lot, thankfully. (Pic below is before the 7 new Nexen tires I just put on, alignment, etc.) I could use help in locating any California Bay Area companies willing to repair dry rot or rebuild a wall on a Toyota motorhome. I have been trying since the Summer, but many companies seem not to want to work on this type of older motorhome because it takes "a lot of work to repair dry rot or do any amount of rebuilding of the structure". It is confusing to me because I'm not asking for the work to be done for free, and there seems to be a push from the vendors to get me to sell my RV. I'm not interested i selling it, currently, but I am interested in repairing the passenger section of wall from the door to the back (I may be over-estimating the scope of the repair, because I am adding 3ft in each direction from where I noticed some damage... I wish I had a place, the tools, enough time and level of skill to do the work myself for this phase of my renovation journey, alas... If anyone has a solid company for RV structural repairs, please advise. πŸ’—Thanks so much and now that I've finally joined this forum instead of just reading and learning, and I'll also start posting a list of great resources, and products that I have been discovering on my renovation and improvements journey...πŸ’—
