  1. hello everyone! I want to ask opinions regarding the rustoleum topside paint. I am pondering the idea of changing the normal color of my sunrader. I have read mixed reviews mostly on Facebook. everything from the paint will chalk up to the greatest thing for your money. I understand that it will devaluate if I would sell in the future, however, I plan to keep the sunrader forever. My progress is very slow getting as much as possible renovated to get my " gem" with much improvements as possible. Progress has bee delayed for a while as a result of knee surgery. I have bought many parts that were worn and flaking. right now I'm reinforcing the entire floor with bracing from below the floor( frame to floor). I have a sag below the bath/shower area in the corner of a rear bath layout. I am still keeping the same layout , but with upgraded appliances. My idea is to reinforce the floor first, then tackle the outside and finally go about the inside. Any comments are truly appreciated. and to Linda S. Thank you very much in helping me with horizontal propane tanks. I had them filled with no problems thanks to your help and wisdom!!
  2. Hi Linda S . My Sunraider was built in Vallejo California (1984) . how does that apply to older RV's ? retrofit?
  3. I know that I don't have them on my 1984 sunraider. I have completely gutted the inside of the coach part . if i am going to make attachment points, they will go through the floor and into the frame. I will try with a local safety inspection station. Thank you for pointing me in a great direction.
  4. any suggestions on where to look for the regulations? i am tempted to just go ask a law agency
  5. hello everyone, i am getting really confused on the seatbelt laws in the coach area. I am in the process of renovating a 1984 sunraider. totally gutted the interior and is attempting to reconfigure the layout to suit my needs. the question I cannot find exactly is regarding seatbelts in the coach area. I read one comment here from 2016by Linda stating that they were not required. camperreport.com states that they are required for all passengers in the rv, I am confused as can be.. I want to maybe carry a third or forth person for overnight camping ( i don't think having 4 people for a week would keep me sane) i just want to know to see what or how I have to change the seating arrangement for seat belt bolting thank you in advance
  6. i thought the openings were for propane (ventilation) bottom in and top out
  7. Hi Linda. I am fiberglassing the difference. I have already covered the heater opening, the water heater (planning to install a tankless heater ), the tail light opening and a bunch of random holes that were done all over the place. getting better at it one at a time
  8. Hello everyone, I am restoring a 1984 Toyota Sunrader and have some questions. the lower vent for the refrigerator is in pieces and want to replace both. The top one looks fine but want to update both and make them more presentable. what are the smallest vents I can replace them with?
  9. Thank you Linda. Did as you wrote. Painted the tanks and took them to Suburban. had them filled and saved me some $$ in un needed replacement. lost track of time.
  10. Hi Linda I am trying to make sense of the last post. I recently purchased a 1984 sunraider and am redoing it all thanks to this forum and read every where before asking. my dilema is this, the rig has 2-20# propane tanks . They both have a stamp on the tank itself that seems to been recertified (10 96 E) they do not have that ez fill valve. they do look like the standard stand up type but, have the brackets to lay them on their side .. can you please help me sort this out?
  11. I measured it ad it is 3/4 inch space as well
  12. in my sunrader (1984) the fiberglass part is splitting past the frame between the floor and the frame rail. the frame underneath is a 1" x 2" square tubing. it looks like yours so maybe that might be it
  13. thanks for the information I will do that. any other sites that any one else might know to frequent in my search.. A better question would be , besides Sunraiders and Nova Star, what other models are fiberglass bodies that do not involve a million screws/ rivets at the edges of the body
  14. Hello everyone. I am also in search of a toyota rv .. sunraiders are hard to come by or are very far from Southern california. One toyota nova star I missed it was bare on the inside and every window needed attention but engine and interior of cab was decent. I saw an ad for a toyota dolphin 500. it is found on craigslist in Northern California (Grass Valley) non running but it is complete. they are asking towing fees. $640 (Celestial Valley towing) in case someone is interested. It was listed today
