  1. End caps are not available anywhere. Many have asked. 2nd battery powers your interior lights, water pump and all 12 volt equipment. There should be some outlets that look like a cigarette lighter plug in the back. You can buy chargers for your laptops and such with those types of plugs. Easier if your an Apple family cause they charge the same as a Iphone. Car jacks are readily available. Really be better if you can find someone to give you a walk through and mini lesson. All kinds of stuff you need to know. Parking level so you don't damage your fridge, inflating air bags, if you have them they must never be left empty. All kind of important or you can really end up damaging stuff the costs a lot. Linda S
  2. Did some checking and apparently Coachmen did upgrade some of their units with the full floater. Even so considering the time that had passed from manufacture date until the very late recall was issued many of them were probably missed. Especially when motorhomes tend to change hands so often. No one was more dilligent than National RV and even they missed a few Linda S There is no correct 5 lug. has to be 6
  3. Well did you look at the axle? Is it the wrong one? Yes Coachman is a big company but it's not the same company. All assets were sold to Forest River in 2008. If the axle update hasn't been done I'm pretty sure your on your own. I haven't heard of a manufacturer doing a recall in all the time I have been on these sites. 10 years or so. Linda S
  4. Yup ya got to have the full float axle on that baby. Look here and click on link to see pics of correct axle hub. Recall wasn't issued until 1992 or so and many of these motorhome manufacturers were already out of business so there was no one to do the recall or even inform the owners. Only National RV, Dolphin, made a serious effert to repair their toyota motorhomes. Linda S http://www.toyotamotorhomes.com/axle_facts.htm
  5. Well I beg to differ on the side to side not being important. My fridge is fine with the front end up a little but not so good front down. But side to side off level is the worst. Out of the bubble dot either way side to side fridge don't work. Linda S
  6. I think it depends on your model as to where it's located but your looking for a little square door on the outside probably with a lock. Here's a 91 Dolphin with the cord out and plugged in. Generators were always optional so many rigs don't have them. Doesn't mean anything is missing Linda S
  7. Body style changed from 83 to 84 and yours is definately an 84. Linda S
  8. Well it's newer than you think. That is no older than 1984 chassis. Look at the title and make sure it says 84 or there might be a problem with it. Some RV's are titled a year newer cause it took a while to build but never a year older. Then pull those wheel covers off the rear wheels and take a look at them. They need to have the upgraded axle. Most Dolphins were upgraded but you can find the info on the main page to this site under axle facts. If everthing is good I'd say you got a super deal. Very low miles Linda S
  9. It looks like I may have been mistaken about Bargman going out of business. I tried to contact them several months ago about the lighted door handles and I never got a response from several emails. I just looked at their website and it does look to be updated since then. maybe it was just a glitch that they didn't get back to me. Have no idea Linda S
  10. The recall was for the head gasket. Blown head gasket will effect more than just one cylinder but this engine also has valves that need to be adjusted and if it's not done they are known to burn the valve on cylinder #6. Is that the cylinder that they are saying is shot? Possible you could just repair the valves that are damaged. They could cause the same symptoms you are experiencing. Is your mechanic a toyota guy. Really makes a difference if they know the issues that this engine has. If valves are not the issues the are al lot of good Toyota engine places in Portland. Engine builders comes to mind. Get the valves checked first Linda S
  11. That is a full light set. Don't know what your talking about then. matches the pic of yours. They have more than one so you can buy both rear tail lights and that was the cheapest price on ebay. Look at the other bargman lights there are more like it but cost more Linda
  12. Your mobile Walmart session won't come up for me but I can see the full address now that I'm answering and yes those are the right tires and one of the ones people seem to prefer now. All season so better in Mass. Linda S
  13. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BARGMAN-30-84-530-84-Series-Recessed-Triple-Red-Horizontal-Tail-Light-w-/231011527502?pt=Motors_RV_Trailer_Camper_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c95c2b4e&vxp=mtr#ht_3577wt_1172 Pretty sure this is your tail light. Word is that Bargman is out of business so I wouldn't wait to buy. Be carefull of that slant edge thing underneath them. You need to remount them on to it to have the proper angle for your lights. If you want to check if it's the correct light there should be a number on the inside of the lens. Take one off and look. Your looking for 84 series lights
  14. Yes has been done many times. No evidence of a safe 5 lug axle was ever found. The toyota-camper member who posted it was not a toyota expert and relayed some faulty information. That is all. Linda S
  15. I have 2 Sunraders and I don't think mine were a hack job. All window openings are smooth and correct measurement for the window. Cabinets are very flimsy but also very light because of it. I'm very happy with mine as a whole. Glad they didn't put in heavy cabinets and fittings. Like my mileage and handling. And yes I feel a little sick when I see people tearing them apart. I see so few of those ever become a useful motorhomes again. Everyone seems to get so far and then give up. Hello another gutted Sunrader shell instead of fun little camper Linda S
  16. This rig is a 4x4 conversion. The owner many years ago posted on the toyota -camper site and he posted his blog .He ran a hang gliding company or demonstration team. I don't remember exactly cause it was quite a while ago. I do remember the siding though. Odyssey's have Mesa pattern siding and this rig is wavy on the other side. Previous owner did extensive water damage repair. Odyssey never made a 4 cylinder 4x4 and their v6 4x4's had single tires Linda S
  17. I bought one of these doors for 5 bucks at Big Lots but never put it on my Sunrader. Flys were so bad this year I put it on my house. Works fantastic. Magnets click right back together and now I have to find another one for my Sunrader. So simple but so perfect Linda S
  18. We have pretty much agreed on the toyota camper site that the good 5 lug axle is a myth. That information was provided by a member of that group at that time and we have never found an example of that mystery axle in all these years since. Linda S
  19. Licensed dealers in most states are not even allowed to sell vehicles with open recalls not matter how long ago that recall was. Since I informed him he now has an obligation to disclose that to the buyer and the buyer can back out of the sale. Don't know if it will help the un-informed buyer but it can't hurt to try. Linda S
  20. I just called them and it is sold but still on the lot. I asked if the axle had been upgraded and he didn't think so.I told them that they were taking a big chance now cause they had been informed about the recall and if they didn't tell the new owner they could be sued for tons if anyone gets hurt. Sure hope the new owner finds one of our groups and get the scoop on the dangers Linda S
  21. That's a Four Seasons motorhome. Well made motorhomes, Slide out was only made for a couple of years and is very rare. Some have manual but some have electric slide-out. Ad doesn't mention whether the axle has been upgraded though. Most important thing to check on Linda S
  22. Well for starters get a tarp over it. Fixing damp joints and sealing in that water is not going to do you any good at all. Linda S
  23. Just took a look at this stuff and it looks perfect. Cheap too. Linda S
  24. Well plenty of people on the toyota-camper site have used garage door seal with excellent results. My girlfriend used it on the Nissan Sunrader that just sold on ebay for almost 14 grand and it did that because the finish was so perfect including that seal. Looks as close as you can get to original seal. You should have looked at the link I posted. look here very clean looking finish http://s46.photobucket.com/user/gfrasier/media/84%20Nissan%20Shorty%20Sunrader/DSC_0030.jpg.html?sort=6&o=10#/user/gfrasier/media/84%20Nissan%20Shorty%20Sunrader/DSC_0029.jpg.html?sort=6&o=9&_suid=13748534408150757596171633018 The only truck seal I could find was black. All these toyota motorhomes are white. Not good Linda S
