  1. @linda s do you know approximately how big the gas tank on an 18' 84 Nissan Sunrader is?
  2. @linda s how would I know if my rig came with AC? Not near it and someone is asking me.
  3. Just looked on the title (duh) and says it's an '84. It's a fun camper, but feel like I'd need to gain proficiency in areas I don't have time for (mechanical, mostly) so I felt comfortable taking it any distance. Feel bad letting it sit unused. Is this site a good place to sell it? Feel like the best use of my time is to give it a cleaning and price it so the next person has room to make improvements they are excited about.
  4. Sent you a PM, Linda. Also, in response to long ago request, here's the coach. What do you think of the overall condition? VID_20230709_095025768~2.mp4
  5. Looks like my 10th is a "D" but date of mfr is late 83. Any chance it's an 83 and full float went into production late in the year?
  6. @linda s how would I determine if this is an '83 or '84? (P.s. couldn't get up the energy to part with it last year, thinking about partingnw it again)
  7. @linda s I assumed it was a v8 after counting the spark-plug wires, but it is a pretty small engine, so I'm not surprised its a 4 cylinder. His name was Quin, from Oregon/Washington. Photo of rig w trailer included.
  8. @linda s and @john*thomas thanks a lot for the replies. Would you go as far as to reupholster the cushions and replace things like curtains, or would you simply recommend making it shine in its current condition? Also, what is it that makes this unit desirable? Given what I can observe, it looks like it's a v8 dually, so probably desirable for towing. Any other specifics you'd call out?
  9. Two years ago my father passed away unexpectedly and as a consolation prize my brother and I ended up with his Nissan Sunrader. While my dad was an avid adventurer and used the Sunrader to tow his Ultralight airplane around the western 3rd of the United States, my brother and I aren't much more than weekend tent campers, so we've basically just held onto it because it's difficult to part with, and because it makes a great clubhouse for our young kids. More and more, especially now that the weather is getting nicer, I feel like the right thing to do is to send it back out into the world of those who shared the same love for adventure that my father did, rather than let it sit another year [nearly] unused. So, I guess I'm looking for a little guidance on what I have, what it's possibly worth, and potentially to be linked with people who might be interested in owning it. Here's what I can tell you about its history: my dad was a lifelong mechanic, and I've never known him to own anything that wasn't in good running condition. He owned it for about 5 years, bought it somewhere on the west coast, and (with a little feathering of the gas pedal) it starts up in under a minute no matter how many months I've let it sit. The only driving it's done in the last two years are when me and my son fire it up and spin it around the block a dozen times just to knock a little bit of the dust off of it. I've added some pictures (omitted photos of back interior, for now, because I didn't feel like cleaning up after the young savages who've made it their clubhouse) and hope to hear back from some of you.
  10. Thanks, Linda. I had a feeling it might be important to track which was which, so I left myself some instructions about the configuration as I found it. I just took the batteries to AutoZone and they confirmed that they're totally dead (I guess this is why my charger wasn't working), but that they should still work with a charge, so I left it with them for pick-up later today. As an aside, is there a reason someone would remove the positive cable from the auxiliary battery when not in use?
  11. My father passed away recently and my brother and I have inherited a few vehicles we need to move out of his storage unit. One is a mid-80s Sunrader that has sat for 3-6 months, which appears to have drained the batteries. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I reason that his Sunrader probably has 2 12 volt batteries under the hood because one acts as a starting battery, and the other runs the electronics...or something. Because I think the batteries might need to be replaced, I'd like to figure out which one is critical to starting, so I don't have to buy two. The general configuration is one battery in front of each headlight. If it's of any consequence or consistent with something an intelligent person would do if they were not planning on taking any trips soon, the positive cable was disconnected on the driver's side battery.
