Tazlina glacier. Walking bridge to McCarthy then a shuttle to Kenicott mine. Kenicott copper mine was built in the winter of 1911 then when high grade oar pettered out in 1938 it shut down. If you look close you may be able to make out the mill just above the outhouse.

No cell power for awhile now to catch up. Presantly at a campground in Haines, Ak. Need a shower and to do laundry. After spending a great time at the Alaska state fair we drove to Macarthy and walked a foot bridge and took a shuttle to the Kennecott copper mine. This mine was built in the winter of 1911 ran until 1938 them shut down because it ran out of high grade oar. Temperatures down to -50 were experienced. Matenusca glacier.
  12. Yup that's my motorhome. Have been out of cell service for a while. Trying to catch up. Two 2.5 gallon gas cans on the back. Had to use them once because I didn't look forward. I can get 200 miles out of a tank, it can be done without extra gas cans. look forward and calculate the miles to the next gas, but don't always count on it being there. Fill up if at all concerned Darrel.

I'm back in Alaska, this time with my wife. We plan on a 2 month return trip to Oregon. About to enter the Alaska state fair in Palmer. Got to see those giant vegetables. #1 picture is a sunset from airport parking. #2 is a vehicle modified slightly to move around float planes. #3 is a very pretty and deadly mushroom. Old panel van from WW2 and of course another glacier.
  16. There is no wood in your door, sorry. I have the same door and had same problem. Did not take pictures of my repair. The internal construction is a Styrofoam cooler material. Small white beads compressed together. I conviently had a old counter top made of wood with white laminate on one side. Cut a piece to fit the bottom of the door where the trim piece is about 9 inches. This made the bottom very rigid. I used polyurethane calk-glue in all of the screw holes and where else I could squeeze it in. Use a syring, fill it with glue and squirt into screw holes. I made a brace for the top outside right out of aluminum diamond plate and riveted it on. You may be able to see the outside construction from these pictures? I'm not where I can take pictures. If you come to Oregon I can supply you with the wood for the bottom of the door. My door is very solid-rigid.

  22. Ill post this again. I used to drive a 1984 Dolphin, 22r with a 4speed. Bought it with 78,000 miles. Drove it for 58,000. Went to Yellowknife, Bella Coola, Alaska, up and down i5, Utah, Arizona and many other places. I got an average of 17.43 mpg. My top end speed was 53mph. Slow down. Now driving a 1994 Warrior. It had 36,805 miles on it when I bought it. It now has 79,998 a as of last fill up. I am averaging 12.443 mpg. I try not to go above 62. Prefer 58. I use OD when I can. Slow down.
