  1. Well I finally got my 4x4 converted sunrader up and going! Although still working on it at least it drives and camps now! Trying out different gear ratios trying to get the most power out of it, I settled on 4.90 gears on 31s. Still wanting more Im going to 30s next. With 31s 65mph is about 3200 RPM with W56a 4x4 trans. Im wanting it more like 3400 for better power up hills. Im about to swap in a R151f trans to help as well since it has lower 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear ratios over the w56. Im planning to pull a trailer so any extra horses ill take!! Yes I know the frame needs reinvorcement!!! im all over it. Anyways its been a awhile since I posted just thought id do a update!!
  2. ive always loved the feel of Recaros. It use to be popular to put them in toyotas trucks. They came factory in the late 80s early 90s vw GTI. Hard to find these days though
  3. Great job!! Looks really good That rear spacer would make me nervious tho! Im swapping in a t100 rear end on mine to get the same result without a spacer. Mine is a 21ft and i plan to tow small trailer after I 3.4 convert it
  4. I wanted a 18ft originally but after seeing how small the bathroom and closet is im glad i got the 21ft. I was also worried about more rear end hang over and swing but turns out its the same as the 18ft because the extra 3 ft is in the wheel base not the rear end. Im far from impressed on the welds where they cut and extented the frame tho but im just gonna get under there and beef it up. The metal used is decent but they only welded one side of the 4 sides
  5. Ive seen a few turbo IFS 4x4 and a few non turbo 86-88 4x4 ones. It is possible they were conversions though. Thanks for the info
  6. Hi there. Im also a newbe. From what i understand the factory 18 ft sunraders are just long bed toyota frames. Only the rear of the frame has extensions for the camper. So using a 4x4 frame would need extension in back added. In my case i have 21ft im keeping the 2x4 frame and converting it to 4x4. Going good so far i got the front done!
  7. Hello all, im new to the group. I recently picked up a 1985 2x4 sunrader 21ft for a fairly good price i feel. Im currently converting it to 1985 4x4 suspension. I read about numbers of the factory 4x4 being around 30 made. I knew i would never find one in my price range. I thought mabie i would never even find a 2x4 in my range haha but i stumbled apon one!! Got me thinking that if only 30 or less 4x4s were made how many straight axle 79-85 4x4 were there??? that has to cut that number in half at least?! Also im wondering what a 4x4 conversion would sell for?? I am a toyota fabricator on the side of my regular day job so its easy for me to convert them I have a few other toyotas right now and most of my extra parts are going into this Sunrader!! Any help on these questions would be awesome, thanks in advance. Oh and i tried to upload pics but they are too large or something??
  8. Hello all. Im new to this group! Im doing the same 4x4 conversion except my sunraider is 4sp manual 22re. I have a 1985 front axle installed already. Clutch and trans is next!
