As an ex-trucker, I had dogs with me and left them in the truck when I went for a shower or food. Now I have cats I plan on bringing my three older boys with me they are cuddly. They don't go outside ever so yes air conditioning is required.

for those at rv and take pets. what do you with pets when you go canoeing or what ever and cannot take the pet? we were planning a trip out and checking on campgrounds and notice most places state you can not leave the pet in rv for any amount of time.

so does that not defeat the purpose of rving with pets? I can see half a day or longer being an issue but a couple of hours? now I am thinking of selling it before the first trip as that was the reason we got one so we can take pets with us.

	thanks

I'm a Dog guy. lets just get that out there; my toy wont have cats in it... ever.

Today being national Dog day I celebrate my GSD; he keeps the fort held down and is my not so little buddy (why do dogs have to be little? should change the pet zones description from little buddy to buddy; unless of course we mean little like calling Lou Farrigno "Tiny")

Most people, I will admit, that I encounter at Camp sites have the old world style power dogs. They were bred small like that in European times so that Rube Goldberg devices could be run off of them running in a hamster wheel in some cases;or for some other small breeds to hunt small game..

Large or small, dogs are not only a family member they are always chief of security, they will let you know if they think something isn't right even if everything is.

All it takes is for that one time they bark at you and you wake up smelling smoke or seeing an intruder chased off that you know it was worth it to feed them and take care of them all those years. My dog seems to have an uncanny way about him when he knows someone isn't right.. and while i hush him I am secretly thinking I probably better watch this person better.

So happy Dog day, anyway, to all of our buddies.

So... this is a bit off topic, but I'm thinking of getting as snake to live in my RV bc I may need to park it a little ways off from my home, and I was thinking that it'd help to have a snake in there to ward off intruders of both the human and rodent variety.

Has anyone done such a thing? Any advice or warnings?

	Thanks in advance,

	Lenny

PS The idea would be to take the snake on trips with me, my 5yo son and our dog every month or so, but visit it weekly to feed it and check on the RV.

I have gotten rid of the dog - made my youngest daughter take HER dog back. I love her dearly, but she needs way too much attention in way too many ways.

My dilemma now is my four boys - kitties. I have moved on from the 21' Dolphin and am moving into the 21' Sunrader I bought from Kale.

I know the boys well enough that I want to keep them out of the very clean cab, and need some sort of barrier that can still be opened fairly easily, and allows air to pass through. I'm thinking some sort of screening, but don't want something they can scratch through, or get their nails caught in, and is stowable.

The other issue is where to keep two litter boxes for four boys! In the Dolphin, I'd kept one in the cab, but accidents happened, and I ended up having to tear out the carpet, so I need to figure out the best places to put them.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Ideas? Suggestions?

I will also be building some sort of catio to go outside of a window, so they aren't stuck inside when I'm not around to have an open door.

After a lot of research and shelling out a few $$ I finally have my dog system figured out! I have 2 large dogs, and one small dog. My old large dog and small dog were having a very difficult time navigating the RV step. These Pet Loader stairs are amazing! They hold enough weight for humans to step on, and are wide enough for my 90 pound old guy, and low enough for my short version beagle. They fold up - though I am still figuring out a slick place to store them when in transit.

The pet fence is a Richell dog/baby fence. It holds my 90 pound insanely spunky golden without a problem! It has individual plastic panels that are held together by slipping into each other, then secured with these cool caps that allow you to make any angle you want! I store the whole thing on a Surco ladder mounted bike rack (installed upside down) and secure with these super cool Rok Straps!

When I arrive at my semi pet friendly location, I secure my dogs' leashes with large carabiners to soft loop tie down straps attached to the the mirrors and ladder - then it only takes about 5 minutes to set the fence up!

	Woof Woof!

I am not what you'd call a "cat person." My take on cats is they only "tolerate" their enslaved humans and permit them to make them food offerings. That being said - our's just died after laying around sick for near 2 months. Had her 12 years. 12 years ago on a cold snowy night - maybe 2 in the morning - my wife said she thought she heard a cat crying outside. We lived in the woods and always slept with the bedroom window open We had a wood furnace going all the time so the window was open even when it was below zero outside. So, 2 in the morning my wife walks into the woods in 2 feet of new snow and hears the cat under a junk car . Reaches underneath and finds a sort of nest with 7 dead kittens. All frozen solid. But in the middle - there was one still alive. So in the house she came. Our dog immediately adopted her and was very protective. Our last child was born around the same time. So our boy and the kitten grew up together. I swear cats sit around and fantasize about killing their "owners." Maybe not with our boy. She loved him.

This summer, our dog got very lame and could hardly walk. Around the same time, the cat started getting weak and not eating much. My older son told us it might be the effects of feeding them cheap pet foods that have toxins and lack enzymes. Long story short - we started buying better food. It brought our dog back to life. She runs and all lameness is gone which I find amazing. No such luck with the cat. I asked an old friend of mine what he thought. He is an 80 year old animal vet. He told me he puts down a half-dozen cats a week like our's. He says it is renal failure and there is NO treatment. So as long as she did not seem to be in pain - we let her just lay around for near two months. Yesterday, our boy was petting her and she started purring like crazy. Two hours later she died. So, I guess I'm glad she died at home. Ironically during a big snow storm. Biggest one we've had in a few years.

I know, pet stories are likely boring unless they involve our own pets. Too bad. Here is is. Digital ink is cheap. I had a love-hate relationship with Tuffy for 12 years, but DID care about her and have to admit - miss her now. Photo on the couch is the day before she died.

Our old dog passed away this fall. My friend has missed having a dog very much so this month he got a new dog, a red poodle. While he looks small now it won't stay that way for long as he is the standard size poodle not a toy. The photo was taken on the boat, it will be a while before the weather is nice enough for him to come to the motorhome yard. He can't go where other dogs are just yet as he has to wait a while longer to finish getting all his immunizations.

Zak is the intellectual, enjoys watching nature shows and likes to play tag the laser dot, Beans loves to be with people and plays fetch with little spikey balls. They both do quite a few tricks on command, wait, shake, sit up, spin, sit, lie down and speak plus of course other essential commands such as leave it, off, go inside, hold still to get their claws trimmed, etc. They live with a big dog.

It is fully lined top, bottom sides except for the opening end. Gave them a new thick foam cushion covered in microfiber fur to snuggle up on. I hardly see them anymore as it is their new favorite hangout. Two cats reflecting their own heat back at them makes it a real hot box!

Sad news here. We had to put down our beloved Lady Bug. Had a great 14 years with her. She will always be with us.
