Onetime I came across a chart that tracked how many amps are generated by a solar panel throughout the day. I know in the 4 peak hours midday the panels put out close to their max rating, but in the hours before and after midday the rate drops off. I'm looking at a 135W Kyocera panel that puts out 7+ amps; how many amps would I expect to produce in a normal summer day.

You would not believe how much the angle of the panels makes, flat on the roof is not the best by a long shot. moving the panel a few degrees makes a huge difference in the output if you want to make max power portable panels are better I would venture steerable panels half the output would beat flat roof mounts hands down just aim them with a volt meter. So at high noon for a few minutes the 135 watt panel on the roof might power a small LCD TV. Solar panels make pretty good chargers over the long run and they will help keep your battery up no matter how they are mounted.
