markwilliam1
When I got Grannie last year she had sat inside for 7 years. Only has 36K miles. Â I had to replace almost everything rubber in the engine. So I started her up Friday to run awhile and later while running I noticed a large wet area under the engine. Thought it was water but was gas! A ruptured fuel line that was covered with thick foam located by the charcoal canister. Didn't know that was a fuel line. The one hose I didn't replace! Gas spraying Everywhere. I'm blessed it didn't catch fire or happened while driving necessitating an expensive tow! My advice is to replace Everything that you can in these old engines and mileage doesn't matter. Also carry a fire extinguisher!
Derek up North
AFAIK, the charcoal canister should only see fuel/gas vapor. So a bad line should not lead to a puddle of gas on the floor.
markwilliam1
Not a clear post I guess. The ruptured gas line was close to the charcoal canister not connected to it. Thanks Derek!
