jack-ramblin
is there any way to use the roof air while going down the highway? or are these dolpins not equipped to do that. thanks
Pete1122
The only way to run the house AC while driving is with a generator.
jack-ramblin
thats what I thought. so you can add a generator to it to run down the road. thanks
Pete1122
Yeah, there are a few options. None are super easy unless your RV is pre-wired for a generator and you have the cash for a Onan generator.
zero
This guy's Cadillac had it in 1930. Uses a 1 1/2 horse gas engine in the trunk to power it. The only RV that I know of that can run the "house" AC while driving with stand-alone generator running is the Roadtrek E-Trek. http://roadtreking.com/roadtreks-new-rs-e-trek-is-perfect-for-boondocking/
jjrbus
Lacking John Hammon Jr's resources it still can be done. Not as aesthetically pleaseing, but some duk tape and bailing wire, not that noticeable on the roof!
Totem
I run mine off my harbor freight inverter genny while driving. works just peachy and oddly enough it literally burns up 1 tank of gas right about exactly when the Toyota does. the wiring is admittedly slipshod; I have the romex line going from under the couchbed down the hall into the rear bottom cabinet and through a service hole that has a removable cover in the fiberglass of the rv ejecting right in the middle by the bumper. on the bumper I have a bumper mounted 2 inch receiver and a harbor freight hitch hauler with the generator strapped into it. shibs
that sprinter van has a factory rear a/c, so did my Toyota sienna van, it had a rear a/c. Any idea how these work, is the Freon pumped from the front compressor to the rear coil?
