Date Change! The Fall Mid-West Toyota Rv Owners Rally In New Albany, Indiana Will Be October 10-12, 2014.

October 10-12, 2014 are the new dates for the Fall Mid-West Toyota RV Owners Rally. This is one week later than was previously announced last Spring. This is to coincide with this year's dates for the Harvest Homecoming Festival in New Albany, Indiana, across the river from Louisville, KY. This is a huge street festival with all the expected activities -- food, crafts, and entertainment. Louisville, KY has multiple additional attractions as well: The Kentucky Derby Museum, Derby Flea Market, MegaCavern Underground Zip Line, Louisville Slugger (Baseball Bat) Factory, and more. See the links section below.

Because this location is a bit farther south than previous Mid-West rallies, we are hoping to attract more Toyota RV owners that haven't been close enough to attend previously. If that is you, consider yourself invited!

The specific Rally dates are Friday, October 10 to Sunday October 12, but you can arrive early on Thursday if you like.

We will be staying at Add-More RV Park just southwest of the junction of Interstate 265 and Interstate 65, about 7 miles from the Harvest Festival. (See Directions and map links below.)

Saturday morning we will have "Open House" for those that want to tour each other's RVs, and see what owners have done to personalize them. Saturday afternoon is a time to visit the Harvest Festival. We suggest "car-pooling (RV-pooling)" because of limited parking in the downtown festival area. Saturday night, we have reserved the "Barn" at the RV Park for our potluck dinner. Afterwards we will light a campfire for marshmallows (weather permitting).

Sunday morning we will have mentoring sessions for any newbie owners that would like to learn more about Toyota RVing. At noon we plan to caravan with all our RVs to a local restaurant for lunch.

The rate is $32.10 per night -- tax included, for full hookups (30 amp connection) for 2 people. Additional guests, age 12 and up, are $5 each per night. In addition we are suggesting a $4 per rig donation to cover the cost of renting the "Barn" for our potluck. We will "pass the hat" at the event for this.

Please CALL us to be put on the list of attendees. Then pay for your site reservation directly with the RV Park by printing and filling out their reservation form available online, and mailing it to the park with a check or money order for the deposit for your first night's stay (non-refundable). Sorry, credit cards are not accepted. The balance is due in cash or check upon arrival.

Please find and print the reservation form here: http://www.addmorervpark.com/form.html

As usual, we expect about a dozen Toyota RVs. The first 12 paid reservations are guaranteed a campsite with our group. After that you may be put in a spot in another section of the park. Currently we have 9 reservations, and therefore only a few sites are still available. Please call us right away if you think you want one.

If you are new to Toyota RV Rallies, don't be shy -- we always have several first-time attendees. Call us to have your questions answered.

Please note: We searched quite diligently for an appropriate Rally location reasonably close to the Harvest Festival and Louisville. Although there are some RV parks that are closer, they are not so nice. After careful consideration, we selected this one as best meeting our needs. It is reasonably quiet with lots of trees, great Wi-Fi, decent restrooms and laundry, a lovely pond, and an indoor rec room with tables for our potluck. However it does not permit bike riding, has a size limit for pets of no more than 30 pounds, and has no playground. Although the policies of this RV Park are a bit more restrictive than some, it IS a nice park, and specifically it is the only nice one that is close to the Festival -- all the others are at least 30- 45 minutes away. Therefore it's our best option, and hopefully our members will find it agreeable. We will work with the park's policies to create a rally experience that is enjoyable for us all.

Now, please call us when you've read this to say if you are interested. If you get our business voicemail (health center), leave a message and we will call you back.

I drove our Sunrader and stayed there once, on Thanksgiving... Wife and I did the MEGA ZIP CAVERN and OMG it was soooooooooo awesome. I have a dislike of the dark and fear of heights and the zips caves challenged both. if you have kids or like zip lines or caves or history the Zips are amazing. There is another thing there that's amazing also that the rally can enjoy... a drive through the caves light experience. drive your camper into the caves and enjoy the lights displays (xmas lights when i was there)... might not be open but if so it could be a great thing to drive the rally through!

Nice rally. We had folk from Tennessee, Ohio, Florida, Michigan, California (Tom and Tika). Toyhouses were a Granville, an Itasca, 2 Winnebagos, and a Dolphin plus an Astro popup (He has a toyhouse but it is still in rehab).

Friday we showed and visited each other's rigs, then went to see a stone mansion in Louisville built 1892-1895. Then on to Mega-Cavern where the underground zip line is. But we chose a one hour trolley tour instead of the zip-line. Last we went to dinner together.

Saturday we went into New Albany for their Harvest Festival. Some of us found a very well done history of the underground railway housed in a former Carnegie library. Others found a classic car show next to the carnival midway. Most of us tried the local chicken and dumplings. Saturday evening was our potluck dinner, yummy.

Sunday AM was meeting each other's dogs and cats, and lots of getting better acquainted and establishing friendships before leaving by the 1:00 checkout.

We look forward to another rally next year. But who should organize it and where we should go is very much open.
