Tell me what to look for in a 78 Sunrader?

I am thinking about buying one of these "OLD" RV campers.

I do not know anything about them but the price is right at $2300.

I can fix many things but what about rust? Do these rust?

How about parts? I think this would be a carburator on the engine.

Can I still get parts for this machine?

What other pit falls should I look for? It's a 4 spd stick

Thanks,

John

Fiberglass does not rust, but the truck body and chassis does. You want to make sure it has a full floating 1 ton axle with 6 bolts dually wheels for starters. Also visit over at the Yahoo Toyota Motorhomes Group. Sure you can still get the Toyota parts. Sunrader went out of business in the early '90s, but many of the coach parts are available because each coach used someone elses parts. The coach company basically built the shell and installed the RV items. The Sunrader is a desirable unit, but a '78 is getting up there in age. You can expect to spend at least $600 for tires to begin with.
