Tips for converting to LED?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone converted their interior lighting to LED or any other energy saving lighting?

I've looked around quite a bit and maybe I just don't know the right terms to search for. The 85 Dolphin has 12v dome/courtesy lights all over the inside and I'd love switch so something more conservative. Also, I'd preferr the light to be at the warmer end of the spectrum if thats an option.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it :)

Thanks!

James

They have bare LED strips that can be put in existing fixtures.

There's a difference source that I can't think of off the top of my head.

There is a great write up a fellow did on this over on the Airstream Forums

Just remember you have to observe correct polarity.

Those leds they are using for flashlights now, the Luxeon LED. Not sure if anyone has direct replacement for 12 volt bulbs but building something should be easy, and they are bright if you get the three watt versions. One of the problems with the RV fixtures is the bulb is inserted sideways. So you almost need a right angle led to shine in the right direction. I played around with regular leds and gave up, just not enough light wide enough. Luxeon though is like a little square chip that emits really bright light!
