Army Corps of Engineers (ACE) Projects

Hi Michael,

Yes, we have stayed at Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds and love them. They are well run, grounds are mowed, restrooms clean and modern, nice camping sites on lakes, and have manned gates during camping season. Gates are locked at night for added security. The Corps campgrounds in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Texas we have seen are very nice. They do have a reservation system and sometimes it's hard to find a vacancy during the summer especially on the weekends. So, if you have a chance to stay at a Corps facility, go for it! B)

Thank You Charles & Dianne: Yes, I think that I will incorporate ACE Campgrounds into my future travels, I so much enjoy being alongside waterways.

It was about 15-16 years ago. It was in Iowa after the Mississippi flooded. It uncovered fossil beds at the ACE lake and campground.

The cost was very low and the campground was beautiful. What we remember most was the fireflies. There were jillions of them. It was like computer generated graphics.

Sorry I can't remember the name of the place.

Thank you Futar:

Looks like there are currently 6 ACE Campgrounds in Iowa for camping.

And 11 in your beautiful state of Oregon, which allow camping, Eugene, Oregon seems to be a stronghold area. Your closest may be Fern Ridge Lake, Junction City, OR

Open the attached link, then click onto the diagram of the outline of the state your are interested in: Answer the questions for your recreational interests, then click on "Find Lakes" Or you can simply select your state of interest in the dialog box positioned at the top left of the form.
