Overdrive

I saw mentioned in another post an overdrive button not working. Not sure the OD button on the v6 is the same as the 22re. On my 22re my overdrive controller was not working as well. In my case the overdrive was stuck on which I did not like; I like to be able to turn it off.  I removed the shift lever and was able to disassemble and clean the switch. I also found the connection on the transmission and cleaned that as well. Still a no go. I ended up removing the wire from the overdrive button on the end of the shift lever (I cut the wire as close to the button as I could), pulled the wire out of the shift lever, and routed it to a simple 2 position 12v switch I purchased at an auto parts store. Now works without problems. Not difficult.

I'd try cleaning original switch and connection at the transmission first.
