How to replace output shaft bushing on A43D transmission?

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all, new to the forum.  I have a dreaded transmission leak on my toyota and and suspect the output shaft bushing.  I need to replace the yoke and seal as well but know how to do that.  I've been able to find some useful information searching the forums but I haven't been able to locate a how to guide.  can anyone explain to me how to get to the bushing?  I'm not sure how to remove the shaft that the yoke slides onto  as well.  Thanks!

Nick,

That would be one big job, I had a transmission shop replace mine a couple of years back. This guy did his overhaul on his kitchen table, gotta respect that. 😁

Thanks! I looked over that post and it is very helpful.  I still don't understand how to remove the output shaft though.  Any tips are appreciated.  I'm wondering if this can be done without dropping the trans?  Unfortunately my 83 service manual only has two pages on the auto trans

You can remove the extension housing without removing the trans if the seal is leaking most likely the bushing is bad.
