1979 Toyota Sunrader - donate or sell??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Wanted some insight on what to do with our Sunrader. We had a few fun camping trips but haven’t used it in 2-3 years and need it out of our driveway.  It broke down on us last trip (something with the rear end) and needs a little engine work I’m assuming as well from sitting for a few years. Inside was remodeled and in great condition (wood floors, new upholstery etc). My question is do we attempt sell it as is, or just donate/junk it? I see that it’s somewhat of a collectors RV...but not sure if it’s worth the registration backfees, work, smog, etc for a new buyer.  Any thoughts? Much appreciated Thanks!!

Southern Ca is a Sunrader hot spot. Sell it as is. A WAG on $$ would be a nice running Rader would be in the $7000 range. A proper 1 ton axle install would cost $3000. A complete new engine installed would be $2500. So its worth $2000 as is.

The possibilty of needing a complete new engine is very slim. $500 would fix most engine problems. SO that will make RV more valuable.

Listed it on Craigslist just now, let’s see what happens! 🙂 I originally had not a clue on how to price it, so I just said make me an offer. Maybe I should change it to $1500. Thanks everyone for the advice.
