chinook wall paneling

Recommended Posts

I have a 1978 Chinook Newport I am currently restoring.its pretty much gutted, but as I was taking apart,i noticed there really isn't anything holding the wood paneling to the fiberglass. I was considering gluing 3/4" firing strips to the fiberglass interior to have some sort of cleat to nail my new paneling back up to. As well as attaching the new cabinets too. Has anybody done this or would suggest doing this?

If you read between the lines, this is an excellent idea for uprating a Chinook wall.

Thanks WME. This is pretty much what I had in mind.just enough firing strips to attach paneling to, while not adding too much weight.then put some kind of insulation between the strips.then I can move forward with rebuilding the cabinets, soffit, etc.
