Replace cab over window question

Recommended Posts

I’m replacing the glass in the cab over window. Advice on how to install the glass is appreciated.

Do I remove the entire frame, glaze the window and then reinstall? Can I install the glass without removing the frame and somehow fight gravity so it doesn’t slide down?

Tips for replacing gasket also helpful.

if there is nothing wrong, I would not mess with the window and frame.

to get it out, remove the screws on trim on inside - lay on your back and push with both feet - putting a big piece of wood to distribute your thrust might be a good idea.

I will say that your leaks probably came from your clearance lights.  Also condensation if in a humid area.

Yeah I would remove the window first. Do what Dan said to remove. It might just need to be reinstalled with new butyl tape to seal the whole thing. If the glass to frame is leaking easy to find out after you remove it. Lay it flat on a table outside up and pour a little bit of water on it. If it leaks through yes the window is at fault. Window can be sealed with the same type of sealant you use for windshields or glass glazing butyl tape. Not the same as you use for frame to coach, this stuff

Don't know how your window is actually installed in the frame though. Would have to see pics from the front. After you put the window back in on conventional windows you need glazing bead but you have to get the correct size.

If your window isn't leaking reinstall it with new butyl all around edge. This stuff
