They do not have Freon in them it's a liquid solution. If it gets hot the boiler is working but the cooling unit isn't bottom line there really isn't any thing you can do but rebuild or replace. Yours is probably the IM4 http://atcoamerica.com/products/cooling/#catalog I wouldn't do it unless the rest of your fridge still looks good. No rust, broken shelves.
