Long Range Wi-Fi adapter antennas

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Recently, there's been a ton of long range antennas come out.  Has anyone tried them?  Are they better than the Yagi setup?  The price is right.

Well for the price if it's useless you haven't lost much. Actually the antenna inside of a laptop is a pretty good antenna it's behind the screen  If you really need great range a yagi is the only answer they do have to be aimed though the little dongle thing doesn't.

That's cheap enough just to have one even if you never use it! I wonder if it really is 1 watt TX?

I highly doubt it has a 1 watt of actual rf output. It may though be 1 watt ERP (effective radiated power) with antenna gain. The key factor is getting it outside and above the roof with a clear shot to the access point.

Gain is easy to obtain at 2.4 gigs! It might be fun to try if I get one i'll let you know. It should be great for campgrounds.
