TRAILER HITCH

SCRIPAL

Recommended Posts

I have bought a Honda Moped (96 lbs.) that I want to take with me when I hit the road in my 89 Dolphin. Will a hitch advertised for an 89 Toyota pickup be the proper fit or will there have to be some alterations (welding) to make one work?  Anybody on the site with experience in this area?  Thanks

The 'hoes have frame extensions beyond the standard Toyota frame. The strength of these are usually questionable to even support the rear of your 'house'. They usually need to be beefed up to support extra weight. So some fabrication/strengthening will be required. In your position, I'd pick up a used hitch at a junkyard and give it to your fabricator to use as raw material for any mods. Should be cheaper than a brand new one for a Toyota pickup that probably won't be a direct fit anyway. :)
