WME
Inside Capitol Reef N.P. to Bryce Canyon N.P......Note the visitors center is in the middle of the park, so the photos are sort out of order vs reality. Green in the middle of the desert This was the center of the the town Fruita. The canyons sheltered the town from the desert heat and winter winds. The orchards they planted are still there and growing The water that made it all possible Next stop Edited November 22, 2017 by WME
WME
Major OOPS. It seems Arches N.P. ended up in the camera not on the SD card. Arches was between Vernal and Mesa Verde. So just sorta imagine them in sequence Arches was under rehab, the campgrounds were all closed, the roads were being paved, some parts were closed. SO the park fees were waved. WME
Well the photo of Bryce Canyon entrance is all you get The park roads were being repaved, so everybody parked outside and rode a shuttle bus to see the park. We had pets and did not want to leave them for 5 hr in the heat. So on to Zion The infamous "one way special toll for your RV tunnel". $15 Well that about all. As we left Zion we got to St George. We wanted to eat at a Japanese temppanyaki restaurant. So we parked and fired up the generator and the ACs, just as we start to leave the V the generator crashes and the ACs quit. Its 110 degrees outside. So the new plan was get to a RV park NOW and plug in. By the time we parked and registered the temp inside the RV was 90 degrees with the dash air on and the engine idling. After plugging in with both ACs running, it was after 8:00 until things cooled off inside. The next was to Las Vegas to find a hotel for MIL and SIL so they could fly out to Hawaii the next day instead of shopping. Then we headed for Nellis AFB fam camp. It was 117 (yes but its a dry heat ) when we arrived there and it was 100 inside the coach by the time we registered . It was midnight before one of the ACs cycled. We left VERY early to gain some altitude and cool down. Made it home with just the dash air. The Onan Marquis generator uses a vertical shaft engine and drives the generator with a belt. The bottom oil seal failed and the engine was leaking oil on the belt and damper. The generator is computer controlled so when the engine RPM didn't match the generator cycles the computer shut things off. The dealer stood tall and repaired the generator when we got home. So we're ready for the next trip, maybe some place cooler though, like Yellowstone and Glacier in the summer and Vegas in the fall.
