pete peasalot
I have a 89 Toy / Winne with air bags over the rear axle. where do you fill them and how much air should they hold with a moderate load. it has been sitting for a few years so they probably leak but I was wondering how to go about sliming them before I replace them just in case they can be salvaged for another year. thanks pete
DanAatTheCape
I would not slime them On mine, the fill valves are in the driver's side rear wheel well. Mine hold between 20-100psi. You should not run them empty as they can tear up. If you crawl under your back axle and take a good look, you may be able to see if they are torn. They hold very little air by volume - every pulse of air makes a big change in psi. everytime I check the pressure I lose about 10psi. If they hold air at all, the bags are probably intact. Often the little vinyl like lines are the source of leaks.

Derek up North
Location for the fill points can vary a bit, I guess depending on who installed them and owner preference. They usually seen to be on the driver's side near the rear axle. I've seen them on the flat outside wall and also tucked 'discreetly' in the wheel 'well', just waiting to be sprayed with all the water and mud off the tires. The fill valves are the 'Schrader' type, like a car tire. Before 'Sliming', I'd check the valves and hoses (especially any connections) for leaks. Replacement air springs are available individually. pete peasalot
found em. right in the coach battery cubicle. perfect place for them, easy to service and well protected. I put 50 lbs in each side and went for a nice long ride on some back roads. what a difference ! smoothed the ride right out and took out a lot of the topwobble. rides like a Cadillac now ! thanks for your help. Derek up North
Now, since they've been dormant for so long, you can monitor them to see if they have a slow leak.
