  1. Hi everybody! I recently got back from a 6000 mile trip from Wisconsin to Oregon down the coast into California and back. My truck now has 73000 miles on it. The mountain passes were rough where the engine wanted to overheat on the way up and brakes wanted to overheat on the way down. But I just took a bunch of cool down breaks for both. Worst MPG was 14.8 and best was 21.1 calculated the old fashioned accurate way. Average was about 18mpg. Just going to toss a bunch of pictures out with little descriptions for your viewing pleasure. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Water pump died in the first 50 miles of my trip. haha Podrick made himself quite comfortable riding shotgun. Mount Rushmore and some Black Hills exploring. Devils Tower These are all Bighorn National Forest. I did dispersed camping on a dirt forest road. I found that type of camping was the most fun. Lots of rain that night with a muddy drive down in the morning. The motorcycle on back was my short trip vehicle.
  2. Well, my engine took a dive on me last weekend and I need a complete rebuild. I don't have the time to do the rebuild myself, so I am looking for some mechanic recommendations near Portland Oregon. Or if anyone knows of any rebuilt or used 22R turbos for sale let me know! Thanks in advance.
  3. Took advantage of the long weekend and made a trek out to the Oregon coast. There aren't many big climbs to make on this part of 101, so it's perfect for my little 4 cylinder. The crowds mostly stay north of Newport, so there wasn't much worry to find spots to camp for the night (including Floras Lake & Sunset Bay).
  4. With new tires, a brake job and a fixed exhaust manifold leak, our 18' Sunrader is ready. We'll be heading out around 6 am tomorrow, heading for the southern Oregon coast. Living close to Crater Lake, we'll take the south entrance and follow the west side, then down to Roseburg and on to the coast. We used to live near Port Orford and will be visiting our son and many friends there, along with some beach walks. Lots of up and down on this trip, we'll be leaving from 4160' elevation, around 6000' at Crater Lake, then down to sea level. It should be a fun 5 day trip! Maybe we'll see some of you along the way! Eve and Stephen Thompson
  5. In the next month or six weeks I'm going to need to get my brakes done on my 18 foot, 1984 Sunrader. I have no place to do the work myself other than a very dusty driveway. I live about 30 miles north of Klamath Falls, Oregon, so would hope to get it done in the general area. Klamath Falls would be my 1st choice, Medford (80 miles away) #2, Bend (110 miles) #3. Any recommendations of shops/mechanics would be appreciated! What is a fair price to pay for a good, complete job? Thanks, Steve

Heading out on a week long trek from Portland to Owyhee/Succor Creek, Alvord Desert and Steens Mountain areas next week. Anyone have experience driving on the gravel roads there? Also, any tips or must sees are welcome. I think I have the highlights, but there seems to be a lot to see. Happy Trails!
