  1. Good Morning my new friends, about a month ago I was able to pick up my first Toyota Camper! We had been looking for a long time and the timing lined up right for us to get this 1990 Americana. It looked like it had been re-modeled well with some nice addition like solar and a deiseal furnace but some other area where more just patch up, band aid jobs like the over cab section. I didn't take any before pictures but when we got it there was a piece of plastic siding covering up the front window. Once I got it home and took off the siding I was able to start seeing the water damage and mold, not a nightmare amount but enough to warrant a remodel. After looking around the forums and watching every youtube video that came up when I searched "Toyota RV Remodel" I found out that there was not a lot of info on this particular model. I am about half way through rebuilding the over cab floor and walls and wanted to start posting the progress in hopes that it may help someone in the same situation as I am. One question I have is this, I was going to just copy what was originally installed for the side walls (two layers of plywood with a thin layer of veneer) but I was thinking about changing it and doing two layer of insulation board with a layer of veneer. Any thoughts?

  3. Hi All, Just bought my 1990 Winnebago Warrior 10 days ago, I've got to spend all of 4 hours in it so far learning how everything works and was planning to give it a big clean and do some exterior re-sealing this weekend. Very excited to spend more time with the camper and loving this forum! However, I went to go to work this morning and noticed that someone has clipped the back left corner either when driving by camper or when trying to park beside it. They were moving toward the back end and have taken off the side light, opened up the seam between the side and back panel (bending the back panel out of shape) and done some damage to the supporting woodwork inside. Photos are attached. This must of happened only one day before I noticed it because I walk by the camper daily and would have noticed it had it happened earlier. Also the rain overnight has had a chance to get in I've got it covered with plastic for now. Anyway, What do you think the repair job will be like? Something I will need a professional to do, or could I do it myself? I'm super disappointed this happened before I could actually use the camper. My Fiance and I were planning a trip in the next 2 weeks, then we are doing a tour of the States from May through to July so definitely need it in working order again by then. Thanks in advance for all the help! Nick
  4. Ok, so I went in head first on a project restoring my 86 Toyota Dolphin, started with the roof, and the further I got, the more rotted wood i found.... Now Im down to the floor, and ready to build back up. FINALLY. The problem is, when tearing off the roof, i got a little too gun-ho and actually ripped part of the metal sheeting, at the time i figured, "oh that will be easy to replace" but after a many searches on the interwebs, and talking to folks at the local RV store its becoming a pretty difficult task to figure out... Also, looking for suggestions on what to use to attach the fiberglass sides back on to the walls after i completely re-build them? i saw somewhere in here someone was using polyester resin? when i tore it off it had hard pink epoxy looking stuff holding everything together.... anyone know what that is? is there something better to use because it looks like im going to need a truck load! really appreciate ANY help! BTW attached is a current picture of the work. and of course me being a goof in the background
  5. Hello everyone, Working on a rotted cab-over it seems like 1/2 problems are caused by a awning. So two questions is an awning worth the hassle it seems like a wind catcher going down the highway and a hundred potential areas to cause leaks when it rains. And the most important question how to patch holes in aluminum? Bondo? Fiberglass? There are other holes I would like patch. Thanks, Mike
