  1. Hi ToyGang, I am fairly new here, and awhile back I posted a bit about the Toyota Gran Sport pop-top camper that I recently found ( it can be seen at www.NebraskaSunBum.com ) . For years.. my heart was set on getting a Sunraider.... as many of you already know.. when you find a toy you want.. its either too far out to go get... too far out of your price range.... or you are just a little too late in getting there!!! SO I never really got my chance to own one.......and wouldn't you know it, that just 30 days after I purchased the Gran Sport, a 1985 "dead sunraider" & I find each other. ( may I say it was love at first sight?!) ha ha! so yes.. of course.. I bought it =) but to bring the Sunraider back to life... the Gran Sport ( as cute / strange / fun as it is ) will have to be put on the auction block... it's sad... but the funds to revive the SR have to come from somewhere... I've tried doing research on the Gran Sports ( no luck ) I have seen the Santanas that are nearly identical.. but no Gran Sports..... does anyone have any info? ideas? why there are so few of them? I'm going to start the auction at $1999, the auction will start next week. $1999 covers what I paid for the unit - when I purchased it last month, and the new exterior paint job its getting tomorrow. If it happens to go any higher than $1999...... that just means more fun for my sunraider. This Gran Sport has a very new engine in it ( less than 1500 miles) and shifts very smoothly! I hope this little camper finds a good home. I'm familiar enough with ebay.. but not with the Toyotas. Any advice before I list it? I want to make sure I've anticipated every possible question, I'll take lots of pictures, if anyone can send me advice, I'd really appreciate it! Many Thanks! =) ~ VaLayna ~
  2. Moose, Thank you for the note! Your info on the rear end is great, I hope I can have some of your luck! I'll start contacting the salvage yards, see what I can come up with, the improvement would sure be worth the piece of mind! =) The steam cleaning is a good idea, but I am afraid much of the canvas is too thin & worn, as it has many tiny 'moth holes'(?) it would be tough to patch all them up, course,... maybe I could get creative with those little, circle patch kits and the canvas could look like its a leopard skin or something.. I wonder if wild animal prints are coming back into style? haha! I love the uniquness of this little thing, I'm just too tall (5'8") to be hunching down around in it if you are just pulled over for a few minutes, but maybe I'll just update this little thing as I go and try to live with the top for now. It is a cool effect, when you unhook the two inside roof anchors (?) and pop it up, kind of like being a kid in clubhouse. Thanks again for the info, this site & it's members are awesome! ~ VaLayna
  3. HI! This is my recent purchase, a 1984 Toyota Gran Sport. Hoping to find out ideas to upgrade, improve this unit, tent top needs replaced, unsure of axle situation, should I go double just to be safe? When figuring the length, do you measure bumper to bumper? or just the 'camper part' ? Thanks all! VaLayna =)

  6. Hi Toy Gang! My Name is VaLayna ( Val ). I have just jumped into the Toyota world with both feet first . . ( and eyes closed my mom says ) LOL!!! Last month, I stumbled across an ad for a mini toyota motorhome. I bought it, not having a clue what I was in for! SO... I brought it home, I've cleaned it up, & now need to start fixing it up ( it actually runs pretty good, no leaks or real serious issues ) I've seen word in toyota posts of the real axle issues.. this one has only a single, so that's a good place to start improvements, any suggestions? and.. the tent part is old & moldy.. so thats gotta go, ideas there? I'll be posting photos here soon, and already have them up at: www.NebraskaSunBum.com if you want to see it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this cool group! and Thanks to Greg & pooch for the great start here in TMH.c! ~ VaLayna
