    Cracked Fuel

Hi Bill, My fuel tank has been fine ever since the mechanic boiled it out, welded it, and welded on flanges so it would hang lower. That was back in 2007. The other thing he did was replace the old, hard, cracked fuel filler pipe with a custom one made from a tail pipe stock. Have fun with your Sunrader. Yvonne
  2. OH, I scrolled down the Forum Topics list to "Donation" and I was able to do it from there. Before I was trying to do it from the "Donate" button on the home page and that didn't work.
  3. No, that didn't work. It takes me to my account. I didn't see anything asking how much nor did I see a Confirm button. So, what am I missing?
  4. OK, I'm a tech dummie of sorts. But when I click on the donate button at the bottom of the home page it takes me to PayPal, then I put in my password and I get to my account. But where do I go from there to donate some money for the upkeep of this site?
  5. I have a mobile RV service guy who comes out and works on mine. He pulled the stove out and discovered a bad fitting that someone had tried to repair by wrapping electrician's tape around it!! Needless to say, he replaced the fitting. Since propane is heavier than air and goes to the lowest spot maybe you should have them put their detecting monitors on the floor of the cab after you have the propane turned on.
  6. Your Sunrader looks great, and it even looks like you may have an awning on it. Good for you! I bought my 1979 18' Sunrader this spring and am still happy with it. You might want to check out my post under Fuel Tanks; cracked fuel. Gardner Pacific put a cross bar support for the coach right on top of my fuel tank so through the years it rubbed two holes into it. The fix was simple enough, but since I pay a mechanic to do all of my work it was a little pricey. But... better that than fuel leaking out.
  7. 'Just saw this on Craig's list San Francisco Bay Area. It looks like a nice unit for someone willing to put a little money into it. mailto:sale-375501169@craigslist.org?subject=1987%20Nissan%20Sunrader%20RV%20with%20V6,%2017'%20long%20-%20$3000%20(napa%20county)
  8. Could you check that website and put it in again? The one you put in www.stocktonwheels took me to a generic 'chamber of commerce' type site for the city of Stockton, California. Thanks, Yvonne

    Cracked Fuel

A few weeks ago I purchased a 1979 Sunrader 18' long. It has been getting 'fixed up' for our first adventure. When we removed the access panel on the left of the stair well (it is on the side of the kitchen stove cabinet) we discovered that the fuel tank filler pipe was leaking. So I took it into the mechanic to repair, but when he dropped the fuel tank to replace the filler pipe he discovered that the tank was indented and cracked in two places. It seems that Gardner-Pacific put a steel cross member for supporting the coach right on top of the fuel tank and through the years the cross member has been rubbing a holes into the tank. We couldn't find a new tank right away for this model (the 1979 Sunrader is built on a 1978 Toyota chassis) so had the old tank welded. I'm sorry I didn't get pictures of it before the weld, but this picture does show the areas of the weld repair and the indentation across the whole width of the tank. My mechanic will be shimming the tank flanges so it will hang further belowand away from the cross member of the coach which caused the problem. It is a good thing I don't plan on doing any boulder hopping with my little rig! This problem may be endemic to all 18' 1979 Sunrader's so if you own one you might want to have it checked out.
  10. I'm the new owner of an 18' 1979 Toyota Sunrader. This is my first RV. There are electrical receptacles in the unit. If I switch from Alternating Current to DC will these receptacles work? I need to use a CPAP machine at night and am wondering where and how to hook it up. Can anyone enlighten my ignorance? Yvonne
