  1. Gday Folks Thanks for the replies on the shocks, but I was trying to find out which chassis to order the shocks for. Is it just a 1 tonne chassis, or is it heavier? The parts guys don't know what shocks I need, as they do not know how heavy the camper is, and the heaviest shocks they show is for a one tonne chassis. 85 Rader (apparently I need spell check...schocks!)
  2. Gday Folks #1 I would like to replace the schocks on my 85 Rader (front and back)and am not sure which shocks to order. I live in Canada and have access to Canuck Tire, Napa, or a Toyota dealership. #2 Just throwing this one out there to see if anyone bites...I drive about 60 miles and the engine starts cutting out, jerking the whole rig back and forth. I have limped home using 2nd and 3rd gear, but the engine is barely running. It is not associated with hot or cold days. It seems to be wose when the RPMs are higher. I have replaced fuel filtre recently. I am not sure if it is fuel related, or spark related. Any ideas???
  3. Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I guess the easy part is over, all I have to do now is find a front wheel! It is good to slowly learn more about the new rig.
  4. Full floating??? The gentleman that I purchased it from had a bunch of photocopies of the recalls of this year of motorhome, and he showed me how this motorhome had the 6 lug axle, but I don't know how to tell if it is full floating or not. It is a leaf and strut system if that helps at all. Thanks
  5. I am looking for a spare as well, but don't know the bolt pattern spacing. Can you tell me what the spacing is?
  6. Gday Folks The 85 Sunrader I just purchased does not have a spare tire. It has the rusty anchoring system which I remember being a pain in the behind on my old toyota 4x4, but no spare. What is the best spare to carry? A front or rear spare? The owners manual states: at no time shall the rv be driven with one of the rear tires flat. I am guessing there would be bearing issues in this circumstance. With that said, you would need two different spares to keep you covered. What are other folks carrying for spares? Anyone know the bolt pattern spacing so I can try and find one from a recker? Thanks
  7. Gday Folks I just purchased a 1985 single owner Rader from Wisconsin and drove it up to a small town in Manitoba, Canada. We were (and are) excited as all get out with our purchase. As we go through the unit, it is fun to see what great care the previous owners took in maintaining the vehicle. We are thinking about installing an awning on the side as the one that exists is one of those "pull the canvas encased rope through the channel" types that never seem to stay in the channel. We would also like to install some type of racks for a canoe on top. The sides of the unit are aluminum, and the top is fibreglass. I am always nervous about puncturing the outer envelope for fear of water damage in the future. Is there a product or method of installing screws/anchoring hardware to prevent future water damage? Thanks
