  1. Great info! Now I think I know what may be the problem. First off, the cooling unit is new and as far as I can tell it doubles for 12v and 110. It is a Dometic. Second, when it did work on 12v, I was able to notice the drop in available power on the monitoring display (above the stove on my Sunrader). Currently there is no change in the display when I turn the refrigerator to 12v so I am certain it is not getting power. Third, I had a car stereo shop recently switch the power source for my dash stereo from my ignition battery to my coach battery. Since the refrigerator power comes directly from the coach battery, something may have been dissconected in the process. The two events do coincide timewise. Thanks jdemaris for the info. That's why I love it here. 1 reply and I should be squared away!
  2. Was fine up until a few weeks ago. I checked fuses but they all seemed fine. Works great on propane and shore power but can't figure out why not on 12v. Should I be looking for a loose wire? Almost forgot, 88 Sunrader shorty.
  3. Thanks for the correction on the spelling. I have since done a little research on issues with torsion bars and have seen way more in the way of adjustment vs replacement. With only 50k miles on the vehicle I do find it hard to believe they need to be replaced. I understand that I shouldn't expect a Cadillac like ride but I think mine rides a little too rough. Driving over those reflectors that are on the freeway is way more harsh than it should be. I owned a 84 dolphin with 140k and it felt smoother. I'm thinking of going to another mechanic to see what they say.
  4. I just read my post and it seems a little vague. My concern is that since I don't see many people discussing tortion bar replacement, (a few adjustments but no replacements), I feel that it may have been misdiagnosed. Does anyone have any experience with this?
  5. I took my 89 sunrader 18ft to a mechanic that advertised they specialize in motor homes. I was experiencing a very rough ride when going over anything other than smooth roads. Figured I needed shocks but they told me my tortion bars where bad and need to be replaced. Naturally I did a search after I got home from getting the quote and couldn't find much on the Internet . Unlike shock issues with our RV's, tortion bars don't get mentioned a bunch. Any one out there can shed some light?
  6. Trust me, I would rather not go the welding route and instead just bolt on a receiver. My problem, however, is still the lack of clearance between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the Sunrader cargo box that sits directly on top of it. I might have to make do with a ladder rack for now.
  7. Just to clarify, I am not considering a tow hitch assembly. (Metal crossbar with receiver already attached) Instead, I'm thinking just the square receiver can be welded directly to the metal frame that is positioned 6" inside of, and 3"lower than the rear bumper. It's the potential strength or weakness of this attachment method that I am unsure of. If it ends up not being a good option, you guys have given me some very good alternatives to think about.
  8. I just held my bike against the cargo box to measure if it would fit. Unfortunately, the rack would end up too spread apart for the wheels to be held in the slots. I agree that the cargo box isn't very efficient but there is something cool looking about it that I really like and wouldn't want to remove it. I really appreciate the input so far. I have a feeling I will be visiting here a lot.
  9. Thanks for the response. I forgot where I read it but I heard you shouldn't attach anything to the cargo box as it isn't designed for that. The tow hitch option is attractive because of its unobtrusive nature as well as the flexibility of potentially attaching a cargo tray to it as well.
  10. Here is my dilemma. I have a Sunrader with the attached cargo box and would like to somehow be able to carry at least two bikes on my trips. A tow hitch mounted bike rack seems to be my best option however I am having a hard time figuring out the best way to install a hitch. The bumper bolt on ones are not an option due to the fact that the cargo box sits on top of the bumper and leaves no space for the bolts to be in between. I am considering having a hitch professionally welded to the bumper but am not sure about the safety of it. How have other owners with the cargo box delt with this? Is there a better way to mount bikes that I am not considering?
