cliffhanger4-- i used a product called a decal or graphic eraser. i was informed here about this tool. bought mine at a local automotive paint and body supply store. cost $12.00 and $2.00 for an adapter to insert in a drill chuck. i needed to purchase several, mostly because a P.O. tried to hide the cracks in the original graphics by using paint! he/she used a dark, flat grey paint which was a bear to get through. but once through, the eraser performed exactly as advertised. the packaging, as well as the actual eraser wheel, cautions not to exceed 4000rpm any faster and damage to underlying surfaces may occur. the eraser did not burn, scratch or otherwise disturb the paint on my cab doors or the fiberglass on the coach body. hope this helps. joe from dover. -

DEREK-- my question exactly. i only removed the "cracked" or "failed" graphics. on my rig. i have a color sales brochure in my packet of original paper work, which shows that the only color that failed was the magenta or purpleish -red color. the other two graphic colors(light blue and light green) were obviously faded with age, but were not cracked at all, not peeling, etc. . i have asked a couple automotive paint pro's--the consensus is the darker color absorbed more sunlight, therefore, became hotter and stress cracks are the result. i am still scratching my head a little, but other than inferior material as compared to the other colors, it makes sense. -

hey there , the shop ordered the cast vinyl silver material. joe from dover -
the "metallic flake pink silver sparkle spray paint" would certainly help with a suspect identification line up ! joe from dover

here is my two cents-- how about double doors hinged to open up (top door) and down (bottom door) possibly utilizing small gas struts to hold top door in "open" position. would provide very easy access to contents of box. with your taillight wiring so close, you could incorporate lighting inside box as a convenience at night just another thought. joe from dover.

if you can test drive, and overall condition is good, brakes, lights, etc. work. i would say that is a fair price. but if you need to replace allot of parts, you could spend far more than what it is really worth, there are possibilities to find a real gem, but i would not be too eager to buy without searching for awhile and compare depending on your choices. hope this helps. joe from dover.

hey there CHANG50012, the cover is custom made. the P.O. offered it with the winnie for additional cost (not included in purchase price of winnebago) The P.O. had it made at a local shop in the amish community that is predominant in the area in which i live. it fits over the entire rig, from cab over to rear. the sides are heavy canvas and the top is a slightly padded vinyl type material. there are heavy duty nylon zippers at each corner at the rear, and brass grommets along the bottom edges. it fits very snug. although a bit of effort to put on and take off by myself. with another person, it is fairly easy. the P.O. stated he paid $575.00 for the cover, i negotiated a price with him and he accepted. it also has a storage bag included. thanks for asking. joe from dover

i found mine on CL last fall. i am amazed that since then, two more identical hobbits have been listed on CL. same year (1978), same color, and one had 370 original miles, the other 2000 plus miles. both were in a 60 mile radius from where i live and both were under $400.00 asking price. the pics showed that they were in really good condition. so i would suggest you look frequently at CL, i am sure you will have a successful hunt. good luck, joe from dover

great upgrade- they look new !--my friend for many, many years (aka - markwilliam1) just recently painted the interior of his granville, he also stripped and re finished his door and drawer fronts with spectacular results as well. good job, looks beautiful. joe from dover -
i purchased a 1978 honda "hobbit" moped last fall on CL with the intent to have additional transportation in and around campgrounds. i modified the HF aluminum cargo carrier, with a stainless steel rail and ramp. it fits nicely, nothing to rust, easy enough to load and unload by myself. the "hobbit" is 50cc and weighs 109lbs "wet", it had 430 original miles on it from previous and original owner. i used it earlier this week at the campground, it will only do about 15mph. 20mph downhill. lol-- joe from dover

yeah, kinda contradictory statements all over the place with that. but as long as they put the disclaimer about the warranty, i guess they are covering their buttocks. joe from dover.

after looking over my paperwork i found several references concerning the hitch. on page 3-3 of the "1993 warrior motor home operator's manual", under the "ENGINE OVERHEAT" section, " Also, be aware of the following situations, which can cause temporary engine overheating: climbing a long hill on a hot day-idling while stopped in traffic for long periods of time-towing a trailer or automobile-stopping after a period of high speed driving" on page 4-1 under "ROOF LOADING", "weight added to both the roof and trailer hitch contribute to the gross vehicle weight, which must not exceed the vehicle's GVWR." on the same page under "TRAILER TOWING" , "trailer towing is not recommended for this vehicle. towing a trailer may cause the gross vehicle weight rating to be exceeded and may affect your warranty coverage." the manual i am referencing was printed by winnebago and sent to the dealership to be passed on to the owner, apparently winnebago was aware of hitches being used on the rigs, even though they did not endorse the use of due to warranty issues. i also found the warranty sheet for my rig issued by winnebago, "1993 NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES, INC. " under, "DEALER REPRESENTATIONS EXCLUDED" " winnebago industries, inc. does not undertake responsibility to any purchaser of its products for any undertaking, representation, or warranty made by DEALERS selling its products beyond those herein expressed." also under "INSTALLATION NOT COVERED" winnebago industries, inc. cannot however, and does not accept any responsibity in connection with any of its motorhomes for ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT or ACCESSORIES INSTALLED at ANY DEALERSHIP or other place of business, or by any other party other than winnebago industries, inc. such installation of equipment or accessories by any other party will NOT be covered by the terms of this warranty." it seems clear to me that winnebago industries could care less what a dealership would install on a rig, as long as it was known that whatever was installed could or would void the warranty from winnebago industries inc. winnebago industries would not stop selling their rigs to dealerships, because the dealerships chose to add something that winnebago would not warranty, i would have to assume the dealership would provide the warranty coverage lost from winnebago. dealerships depend on accessories as a part of their revenue stream. i conclude that it is not unreasonable to assume dealerships have installed hitches. joe from dover

i can't say for sure that this is the case, but i do know some auto makers offered "dealer" installed accessories. it could be possible ? joe from dover.
