  1. photos of a ( your) problem are often very helpful to diagnose the situation properly. joe from dover.
  2. congratz ! your rig looks like a winner. way better than the plexi-mobile ! like linda said, these rigs are fun to own and travel in. they do require some effort. but you also have a bit of history to be proud about. good luck and many safe journeys ahead. joe from dover.
  3. I am no expert on roofs, I can relate what I was told by the rv shop that replaced my roof ( originally aluminum) on my 92 Winnie. the shop replaced my roof with rubber. the shop owner told me that the rubber roof material is the industry standard now. back in the day the rubber material was not used. to my understanding, you need not coat a rubber roof unless you have a cut or hole in the membrane. proper cleaning and using a cleaner with a uv protectant should be sufficient. with older aluminum roofs, you are subject to developing cracks and pin holes in the aluminum as it ages, therefore requiring a coating being applied. joe from dover.
  4. became aware of a Westinghouse line of generators. they offer a 2500 peak watt / 2200 run watt inverter for about $600.00. nice reviews. anyone have one or familiar with the Westinghouse brand ? related to the small genny's running roof top air is a "MICRO AIR easy start 364" soft start system that once installed allows starting and running roof top air with small gensets. the micro air system is about $300.00. good informative you tube install videos out there. joe from dover.
  5. TAKE YOUR RIG TO A WELD / FAB SHOP. MODS CAN BE DONE. I HAVE A 2 INCH RECEIVER HITCH ON MY 92 WINNIE. WAS PUT ON PROFESSIONALLY BY P.O. I HAVE A POST ON HERE SOMEWHERE WITH PICS. HOPE THIS HELPS. JOE FROM DOVER
  6. after viewing the video, (thanks derek), with a 3yr. limited warranty, and only $350.00, parts availability issue aside, I think I would pull the trigger on this one. basically if I were looking at HF predator for $500.00, and this appears to be the same unit, (spec wise), why not save $150.00 ?? just my thoughts. joe from dover.
  7. THERE IS A GROCERY CHAIN IN MY AREA CALLED ALDI'S. I BELIEVE THEY ARE REGIONAL AND HOME OFFICE IN ILLINOIS. THEY SEND A WEEKLY FLYER IN THE MAIL. THEY ALSO OFFER A LIMITED LINE OF NON FOOD ITEMS. TO THE POINT...THIS WEEKS FLYER FEATURED A 2000 WATT INVERTER GENNY. LOOKS LIKE THE PREDATOR AND HONDA , THE PRICE ? $349.99. SHOULD HF BE WORRIED? QUOTED FROM AD, "WORK ZONE 2000 WATT INVERTER GENERATOR. EQUIPPED WITH TWO 120V HOUSEHOLD OUTLETS, ONE USB OUTLET, ONE 12V OUTLET FOR BATTERY CHARGING. SUPER QUIET--ONLY 59 db. 80 cc 4 STROKE ENGINE RUNS ON GASOLINE TO PROVIDE DEPENDABLE POWER. JOE FROM DOVER.
  8. guess I need to reconsider towing a honda 600 coupe automobile. it weighs the same as the boat !!! joe from dover.
  9. I use a type of rolling scaffold commonly referred to as a "baker". it will fit over the front of the cab. side to side it clears the fenders. the platform that you stand on is adjustable for height. I adjust mine to about a foot above the hood. I can then reach the clearance lights easily. "bakers", can be found at harbor freight, and the big box stores such as lowes. they are about $200.00. often on sale at HF, for $150.00. joe from dover.
  10. POSTED ABOUT 8 HOURS AGO: 1986 TOYOTA MOTOR HOME, CRAIGSLIST, AKRON OHIO. MOTORHOME IN NEAR BY STOW, OHIO. POST INDICATES COACH REBUILT WITH NEW EXTERIOR WALLS, (LOOKS LIKE FILON, WHITE, NO GRAPHICS) AND RUBBER ROOF. ASKING $9,500.00 I BELIEVE IT STATED UNDER 30K MILES. 22RE MOTOR. ABOUT A DOZEN PICS ON POST. ALSO, SET OF TAIL LIGHTS FOR TOYA ON COLUMBUS, OHIO CRAIGSLIST ($60.00) HAS PIC. JOE FROM DOVER.
  11. I have been buying HF for over thirty years. for the price , most of their products are well worth the price. the big but coming here is, PARTS. I would have wished CR had mentioned the availability for common parts for the HF unit. just wondering why no mention of that. I need to assume that parts for the predator are not available. would also like to know that since the HF unit is basically a clone of the honda , would similar parts be so much alike that they could be interchanged ? (honda parts fit HF ) I.E. carb. ? pull cord assembly ? etc. , etc. even with such a great review and at half the price, if parts fail with the predator, are you spending another $500.00 ? just curious. joe from dover.
  12. just wanted to throw my two cents in. I have bought from windynation twice. not for my Winnie but for my remote cabin in southern ohio. both times I had great service and people on the phone were very patient and helpful. their 100 watt panels are well built. the first one has been in service for over four years without any issues. I just purchased, a second panel, which will be installed before winter. the second panel and accompanying wiring and connectors were exactly what was ordered to make the added panel pretty much "plug and play" two thumbs up ! joe from dover.
  13. there are different types of plexi. some are made with a uv protectant. if it is not the uv type it will, over time degrade developing cracks. becomes extremely brittle and probably leak . also how thick is the plexi ? as linda said, reinforcement for load bearing is critical. my vote for this roof remodel is - "no way" joe from dover.
  14. if the hood decals are decals and not paint an eraser wheel should work. I used the eraser wheel on my door decals on my 92 Winnie with great results. fyi, do not exceed stated rpm or paint may be damaged. good luck, joe from dover.
  15. if just cracks, maybe clear packing tape. I am thinking the standard 2 inch wide stuff. very sticky and cheap. joe from dover.
  16. good advice derekā€¦ my thoughts, if someone won't work for beer....keep looking. joe from dover.
  17. can someone explain the air hose (s) on the rims? does one feed to the other? thanks. joe from dover.
  18. I HAVE A 92 WINNIE WARRIOR. YOUR DESCRIPTION OF THE AREA BEING "SOFT" INDICATES TO ME WOOD ROT OR DAMAGE BEHIND THE FIBERGLAS. IF THIS IS THE CASE, YOU MAY BE LOOKING AT A MAJOR REPAIR. ANOTHER POSSIBILITY IS THE FIBERGLAS HAS DELAMINATED, AND THERE IS A WAY TO FIX THAT WITH ADHESIVE. BEST OF LUCK. JOE FROM DOVER.
  19. I modified the original ( generator ) space in my 92 Winnie to hold my honda 2000i. I have pictures on a previous post. joe from dover.
  20. I replaced my entire outdoor shower. I believe E TRAILER had the whole kit, including the locking enclosure, faucet, hose and wand for less than I could replace the faucet for. I did not use the enclosure, I just needed the other parts, faucet, hose and wand. a PO, had replaced the faucet at some point with a bath room vanity faucet from home depot or lowes. it was a poor choice, all the RV hose and wands have a different thread than the home version. explains why there was no hose and wand when I bought my Winnie. I think I spent less than $35.00 for the new unit. install is a breeze if you can have someone inside and someone outside. my someone outside was called duct tape. joe from dover.
  21. hi Kathy, welcome to the TOYOTA MH WORLD. I suggest that you spend some time searching the forum. the great people here have a vast history of "been there, done that". many questions have been answered and very often links to products, suppliers, or other info are provided. as I have learned the past three years, this group of people are gold. often posting a picture of what you are asking about is very helpful in obtaining an answer. best wishes. joe from dover.
  22. I think I bought a locking hatch cover from this site for my 92 Winnie. I wanted to have a locking hatch door over my fuel filler. worked out really well. joe from dover.
