About Me

I purchased my first Toyota RV in 1995. I had not planed on getting an RV and had never even seen the inside of a Toyota one, but what I found I could not let get away.

My first Toyhouse was a 1981 2L diesel motorhome made by the RBR corp under their Mini Cruiser brand. It was one of only five custom built, special order, diesel powered, coaches and only a mere 17' long (actually 16' 9"). It had an incredible little naturally aspirated Toyota diesel truck engine that only had 54k miles on it.

We traveled all over the US in it and in the 14 years we owned it did more customizations and upgrades than I care to remember. It served us well.

As it got older I thought that since we loved these little RVs so much that I had better start looking for something that would take us out another couple of decades. After a lot of searching we finally found a 1991 Sunrader V-6 shorty (18'). I knew that Sunrader made very few of these shorty V-6 coaches and since they went out of business the first quarter of 1991 that this one was one of a small handful that were made that year. It only had 31k miles on it so it was a no brainer to grab it up. I flew from the east coast to the west coast and took over a month for the drive home.

We kept both RVs for a number of years, even building an oversized garage to keep them both in but owning 2 was more work than fun so in August of 2009 we sold the diesel and are now down to just one Toyhouse.
