  1. My 85 now has the ALL ALUMINIUM 2 Row Cross Flow radiator in it (internet price $168) and cools ALOT better, no more glued together plastic tanked and aluminium radiators in this garage. Thanks Rod.
  2. My 85 Toyota 2wd motorhome has SPLINED lug bolts that press in from the back side of the drums and the rotors(front) . To remove them take a drift and a small 2-5lbs hammer and punch the old lug bolts out,do NOT hit the threaded if they have any unless you put a nut on the lug bolt FLUSH with the tip of the lug bolt threads if it will allow it! To replace them, put anti-seize on the splines of the new lug bolt then put them into the back of the hubs, making sure to twist the lug bolt a little back and forth till you feel the splines on the lug bolt lock into the old grooves created by the old lug bolts.MAKE SURE THEY ARE STRAIGHT IN THE HOLE then put a nut on the stud and tighten the lug bolt till it is flush against the back of the hub. Do this slowly,do not use air tools... this is why they brake, to much torque!! Good Luck Rod.
  3. Unless the motorhome has DRUM brakes in the front there is no way to adjust them. When front brakes grab or lockup and slide its time to check the front shoes for metal to metal contact which will make a screeching metal sound. Most lockup are caused by air in the brake system, symptom might have hard brake pedal. They need to be bled off to get the air out of the system. Thanks rod.
  4. How ABout 12,000.00? Thanks Rod. PS; I have a really nice 85 Winnabago I`ll use as a partial trade for 4x4 Toyota Sunrader if anyone is interested! rewesling@yahoo.com
  5. The Toyota Engines will run hot if the thermostat fails,or the cooling system is full of debri, rust,or a bad radiator(ALWAYS use the OLD radiator to flush the system BEFORE putting in the new radiator .) or the radiator cap goes bad.The most common problems I have found is the LOWER RADIATOR HOSE will collaps after the engine gets hot and you turn it off then restart it, or in stop and go traffic. In these situations the cooling system will create a vacumm in the system causing the weak sidewalls of the hose to be sucked together,This vacumm in the system is normal in order to pull fluid out of the overflow tank back into the radiator as needed. There are 2 remedies that will cure the lower radiator hose problem,1- buy the lower radiator hose with a coil spring molded in to the rubber of the hose, 2- buy the stainless steel lower radiator hose spring that you put in the hose. When using the SS 1 1/2 spring be sure to put it in a new hose just to save time. The spring can be bought on the internet for about $6.98 and you`ll find it for sale as a SB Ford Mustang lower radiator hose spring. Hope this helped! Rod Wesling.
