  1. Generator was running perfectly fine 3 weeks ago, just jumped in and it wont stay running unless I hold the start button down... any ideas why this may be?
  2. I'm going to take the risk and try them out! I am choosing to buy through ebay rather than their direct website... its 40 more, but ill be covered by ebay buyer protection!
  3. Sold her.... Gonna miss this rig. She got a lot of attention anywhere i went. From peace signs to thumbs up to yota enthusiast. now to get my winne personalized!
  4. at $409 shipped to my door, i think im going to take the risk and buy them. They are covered by ebays buyer protection if they arrive looking crappy.
  5. how do i post a link here??? cant copy and paste it... Derek, i found reviews through amazon. Not of this actual size, but of other Goform tires...
  6. I'm thinking about ordering these tires for the Winne. Anyone used them before? They're cheap Chinese tires, but any reviews I found for them said they are on par with Hankook.
  7. Well in Chicagoland our "hills" arent probably what youre imagining. I believe the stock rear end was a 5.29, and the new 1 ton is 4.10. I dont have a tach, so im not sure what the rpms sit at 55. I would guess near 3k though. I dont really use the 5th gear unless im in flatland, but when you do have some hours with no incline its nice to have the option to cruise at 60 comfortably.
  8. Hey all! So I went ahead and bought the 1991 Winnebago Warrior a few nights ago! Shes everything I thought she would be wondering if some of you v6 wizards could direct me at some helpful hints on what to watch for as far as repairs. The rigs been fairly inactive for the past 5 years. It does have a Jasper installed engine, 20k miles ago. All the receipts are there, and I noticed that a "knock sensor" was replaced almost yearly by the previous owners... Any insight on this? just looking for shortcuts and hints from you winne and v6 owners... Thanks!
  9. really not too much different than the 22r. Being a little 18 footer probably helps. The gearing is different than you gas folks as well. She holds 50-55 on most hills no issue in 4th
  10. Hey guys! Thought I would stop by and throw a post in here about my rig in case anyone around Chicago was looking. I am buying a winnabago v6 tonight, so my baby will be up and available. if anyone is interested, feel free to pm me and ill get you my phone number. Its in 7 out of 10 condition I would say. Have spent 1500 since spring on getting her perfect for the year. Here is the link to the add if anyone is interested! Its located in Lakemoor, Illinois thanks! 11. Well ill be keeping her out of the rockies then this summer. Do you think the Appalachians would be doable if i stayed in a lower gear??? It doesnt smoke very much at all, it does smoke a bit in 5th gear though. I took a test drive after reading your post and really watched and it seems to be burning most the fuel unless i really get on it. 4th and 55 just sounds like its revving pretty high, do you know what the redline is on the 2.2?
  12. Thanks brother, thats just the information i was looking for.... i was getting mixed responses on the lower RPMS. I am going to look into installing a pyrometer and will probably not be using the 5th gear anymore
  13. Hey everyone! Taking the mini home out for the first long trip and am a bit unsure of how to drive her. Should I be keeping the rpms up while cruising? It's quite the dog with the 5 speed, it seems as if the 5th speed is nearly worthless. Will bogging the engine damage anything? Should I install a tach?
  14. Just got the axle. Only 40k miles, new bearings and drums. Tires are brand new Michelin with rims, plus one free spare with rim for the front. STEAL! Installation this weekend!
  15. Thanks everyone! He finally responded, he is offering an axle with 5 rims and new tires for $500.... Good deal?
  16. Hey everyone, let me know if you see one. The guy i was supposed to buy mine from wont answer now....
  17. So i bought it! its in beautiful condition. Rides out great. Got GREAT gas mileage on the way home.... 1/4 tank in 69 miles... Need to see what the tank size is. BAD NEWS THOUGH. had the damn 5 lug even though he said it was 6. GOOD news is, i talked him down to 2,050 from 3,500.... I have access to a 6 lug and tires and rims. Anyone in the chicago area that will help get this task done? willing to pay good money for help/// If not, any idea how many hours of labor a shop would charge for the swap? more pictures tomorrow
  18. wow! that answers it for me i think! i believe i may be one of those rare diesel toy owners this saturday! I CANT WAIT!
  19. me too! i am really leaning towards it. Just wanted to make sure they were as reliable as the 22r
  20. Linda, the unicorn had extensive water damage on the roof. But had since been "repaired". it no longer leaks, but the ceiling is nothing more than some sort of cardboard he put up and its falling down... The unicorn had the 6 lug axle installed in 2011, diesel is also a 6 lug.
  21. IMG_0897.MOVIMG_0897(1).MOV this is a video i took of the unicorn....
  22. i have not seen or driven the diesel yet... but i did drive the gas home. It drove out as well as my old rig... The engine was making a whineing noise... It may have been the alternator from having a completely dead battery. i am going to view the diesel today or tomorrow... here is some pictures
  23. Hey guys! I am back! and happy to be. I had to sell my old beauty a year or so back due to financial issues, (and she was rotted out) and now i am about to be purchasing a new rig! I found two near me, a 1984 Unicorn with 131k and a 1982 Oaklander diesel with 82k! I have personally seen the unicorn, and it is a bit rough... It does have new brakes and a new clutch and water pump. Everything seems to work on it, but it is quite rough around the edges. It needed a bit of starter fluid to start, and blue a puff of blue smoke when we got her running.... It ran ok though! def needs a tuneup. It has a spot for a generator and a indicator board which is nice. The oaklander is a bit more, but VERY clean. Brand new tires and fridge, no known issues he says. I know they are grossly underpowered at 62hp, but i dont need to go anywhere fast! I am honestly leaning towards the diesel... But i want to know if anyone here can tell me how reliable they are... thats really ALL i care about. I have a full summer with many trips planned... Any input?? GLAD TO BE BACK!
