  1. Hi there, I'm looking for a EGR valve for a 78 toy chinook (20R). The part is discontinued and I'm wondering if I can clean the one I have or substitute another year... I'm grasping at straws here. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks Toyota buddies!
  2. hi everyone! i've been looking for a stick shift boot for my 78 chinook. i haven't been able to locate one anywhere. anyone have any tips on good websites? THANKS!
  3. Hi everyone! I've got a 78 Chinook (20R engine) thats having a little trouble. It chugged/misfired pretty violently at low speeds for a few miles then ran a little better after we cranked up the idle. After it seemed to be running fine we cranked the idle back to normal and made it home. It was also backfiring quite a bit too. Its been raining the past week here and I wonder if that isn't a symptom of water in the gas lines. Do these symptoms ring any alarm bells with anyone out there? Thanks so much. Anna
  4. Hello everyone! I've got a 78 chinook that backfires when I let off the clutch and/or slow down quickly. Does anyone have a tip on where to start looking for the problem? Thanks a lot! Anna
  5. hi friends. as the title suggests, my 78 chinook's clutch turned to mush today. it was just fine and then it was a little sticky and the next time i pressed the clutch in, there was no resistance and the stick shift wouldn't budge. does this sound like a blown clutch to you? could you describe what may have happened? i have a chiltons manual, but this type of thing is out of my realm. i plan to bring it to a shop tomorrow, and any info i can get may help me get a better price on the repairs. (i am close to broke) also i'm in portland oregon. anyone know a good mechanic around these parts? any info is greatly appreciated. anna
  6. hi everyone. i just bought a 1978 chinook gazelle. its a pop up camper. i'm looking for a manual for the camper and the truck itself, so i can do my own oil changes and maintenance. anyone know where i can locate these handy items? thanks! anna
  7. hi everyone! great site here, i just found it and i had no idea there were so many toyotahomes around. they look perfect for an extended trip. i've got about 6 months and will be taking the slow road from michigan to vancouver to mexico. i'm considering buying a chinook pop-up camper with 99,000 miles. could someone please give me an idea of what to expect in the way of problems with these vehicles. is there a particular year that is a lemon? and so forth, any info would be greatly appreciated. also, i've got my eye on the toyota vans (hiace or le) anyone seen a website for these little beauties or know who might be selling one? THANKS, anna
