  1. Dear friends, I want to have my 91 warrior frame be reinforced to be able to tow some trailer with me. It is a 21 foot toy . i know that some of you have done it. Do I have it extended from the main frame of the truck(obviously) . I mean what kind of hardware do I need and how are they welded to the frame. Will have a shop doing it. Thank you in advance for your feed backs Mason
  2. I ended up detaching the cable from the cluster by a screw driver and a small vise grip ( a tip from the Toyota forum) . It came out slowly and had a lots of resins hardened in there. Cleaning the cable (and I noticed that the cable was attached inside next to the gas pedal. But I didn't have to take it apart and change the cable so saved 116$ in these hard times. I put some lube and as you said it came out the other way (after a long time) Then put them back together(was easy) . Now it is quiet.
  3. Thanks every body .Test drove it and the noise is gone(Thank heavens).
  4. Thank you , do you know where i can find that? And is it thin enough to go around the inner cable?
  5. Hi, I tried to put some lube (Liquid wrench chain lube that says for any chain or wire cable on it) that was suggested in Auto zone. But it seems that the liquid won't drain into the cable at all because of resin accumulation around it. I poured some alcohol in it to soak in over night and do some thing tomorrow. We will see. What ever lube that I can use must have low viscosity since it won't drain into the cable. Do you happen to know of any? Buy the way i plan on having the drill to run for a while on it so most of the lube come out.
  6. Great, i was able to detach it from the cluster with the aid of a small vice grip and a screw driver. it is brownish inside so i have to find some denatured alcohol and clean it first and then put lube in it and try it to see if it makes noise any more. Good i have some thing to work with now. Thank you and every body very much. i will post the results later.
  7. I looked at the spedo cable end at the cluster . There is a mark on that but there is no mark on the cluster board that I can line it up with. I am going to order the cable from the dealer , It takes a few days to get here (108$). That way I can find some thing about the other end. And hopefully can detach it. Thank you guys for your responses.
  8. That might be it. I have to use a strong flash light and a mirror to find those marks on the cluster and the cable end. Thanks But how on Earth can you detach the cable from the fire wall. I have detached two clams that I can see but there seems to be another one inside fire wall! I have jacked up the car on the passenger side may be I have to jack it up on the other side as well and and look from the other side. It seems that it goes on top of the transmission where you can't reach it . I put some lube into the cable and turned it counterclockwise with a drill . The noise is still there . But some time when I pull a little bit with the drill while turning the noise goes away.
  9. thanks, i was able to get the cable elevated above the cluster(with an aid from a friend) Now i am going to go to Auto zone and see what kind of lubricant they have . Hopefully what you guys suggested.
  10. Should I try to pull the inner thing out by a pair of pliers from the bottom . Does it come out?
  11. Yes it makes sense to do it from the top so that you won't short out the circuit board on the cluster. But the thing is not cooperating and I can't get it off from the cluster. There is a chance that the loud noise is coming from the cluster itself because the sound is very superficial. .
  12. Well I tried again today . It didn't come off, Went to Napa and looked at the one they had. Very similar and simple. My thought is that the inner cable is some how worn out and is grabbed by some thing in the cluster. The other problem that I have is that on the other side of the cable near transmission i have separated it but when i follow it toward the cluster it goes places under the dash that I can't get to so that I can release it from the firewall. How many clamps are holding this cable to the body and how would you approach it? If i could get the cable loose and above the cluster then i can put some lubricant in it. I read that some body did that but "how "I don't know. Thanks. Mason
  13. I plan on going to the dealer tomorrow and take a look at the cable . Hopefully they have one. I am afraid that i do something that creates more work for me. Thank you for the response. I will read it again.
  14. It is a 1990 v6 . is it not like some of those electrical connection that you squeeze the little thing and it comes out. May be my mistake was that it turned it around(since I didn't know better) .
  15. Should I spray some WD40 on that end. Could it mess up the the electrical board?
  16. Well friends my speedometer was making a lot of noise (but was accurate). So I pooled the dash out and also detached the cable from the axle part (I will attached photos). But on the side of the cluster I squeezer the white thing on the cable and it won't come off. May be the pictures explain better. Please help out. I have done so much to get to this point.
  17. Thank you. I have a 91 Winny and I want to install a ladder . Your photo and description is valuable to me. And it is nice to meet you.
  18. Hi I just went to my first camping trip with my 91 warrior. I hooked it up to the city water without a regulator (didn't know that I needed one). It made the facets to leak. Can any body tell me where I can find the o rings. Thank you very much.
