  1. Wow, thank you guys so much, I've had some much less functional suggestions from an engineer friend of mine but this looks like exactly what I was looking for. I'm not very good with wiring so I'm hoping that aspect won't be too hard to tackle. Thanks again for the help.
  2. Hi guys, Ive done a bit of searching around the site, and the internet, and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Has anyone out there removed their cab A/C unit? I've had my Toy for 3 years and used it once to see if it worked (which it didn't really), and the unit was damaged in a hail storm before it was mine. I'm looking to remove mine for weight/fuel saving but before I take the thing off, I want to have a plan for what to do with the hole in the roof. Hoping to fine a sky light that might fit…..?? I have an 84 Sunrader. Any help or ideas is very much appreciated. Alex
  3. hey im new I have a 89 odyssy and working on a new roof and flooring.

  4. Just got back from a 2200 mile trip from Colorado to Oregon. I averaged 17.9 mpg for the entire trip. 16 being my worst tank and 21.2 being my best. I have a 21' Sunrader 22R with 4 speed man. Kept my speeds between 55-60 when possible.
  5. I just arrive home last night from my first big trip in my 84' Sunrader and I couldn't be happier with how it all went. Late May to early June is the typical allotted time for summer training camp in Mt Hood OR with the US Snowboard Team. This year's camp also happened to be scheduled in accordance with a wedding for two Team staff members that was to be in Park City, UT - directly along my route to and from camp - so I decided to take the Sunrader. With 1200 miles a head of me I planned on two long days of driving there. I headed out, loaded up with snowboards, skateboards, cameras, wedding attire and my Mini Martin, totally unsure of what my MPG would be, but after reading around here, I was hoping for 14-16mpg. Driving West on I-80 through Wyoming is almost always a windy affair and this time was no exception, albeit a bit more never racking with the motorhome acting like a sail. Because of getting a later start (11am) and the bad head/cross winds I made less than half way and stopped just east of Ogden, UT. I had a nice chat the following morning with the owner of a half-million dollar diesel pusher after parking next to him at Denny's. While I'll admit I may have been a little jealous of a few things (mainly cruise control) I was still proud to be getting at least twice the mpg he normally gets. (I had gotten 16.6 between my last two tanks) I got back on the road early as i knew I had a looooong day a head of me. The next 600 miles were pretty uneventful, but as I neared my destination and dropped into the Columbia River valley the gusty winds made for some of the most white knuckled driving I have ever experienced, but I managed to make it to my destination unscathed. The next 6 days were filled with lots of on-snow training, a few fishing expeditions (one of which produced a size-able salmon) some white water rafting on the White Salmon River, disc golf, and lots of catching up with teammates and friends, many of which were very jealous of my rig. As camp concluded I decided to get back on the road to Park City as soon as possible not wanting another 14 hour day behind the wheel. The rest stop I pulled over at had several people camped out on the ground with blankets over their eyes to block the street lights. Ive been there, several times, and I was not envious. It was in this moment that I most appreciated my rig. After coffee and yogurt, I was back on the road and made it into Park City with enough daylight to skate in city park long enough to help rid me of 'road trip legs'. The wedding was the following evening and was the first I had attended since I was 6. I got to see people that I hadn't seen in years, and reconnect with friends that are in other disciplines of our sport. The ceremony was short and to the point, with only a few tears and one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen (do seeing them on TV still count?) The night was filled with lots of dancing and lots of drinks, too many in fact. My goal was to be on the road by 9am at the latest the next day and this was difficult. But, I was fueled up, and had coffee and breakfast on the road by 9:15, so I'm still taking it as a win. The tail winds on the way home helped me get my best mpg yet (21.1 !!) and I was home right around 6. I had a lot of nightmares about breaking down out in the middle of Idaho and not being able to make to camp or to the wedding. The Sunrader was a total champ and made the whole trip without the slightest hiccup. I managed to get 17.9 mpg for the whole trip, which was much better than I was expecting. I rolled it over the 100k mark on the trip, and I hope I can continue to put many more miles on it with as many good stories in the future.
  6. Looks great! Thanks for the pics. I too was following the other thread and Im glad to read you were able to install the new ones with out much hassle. More motivation to order some of my own.
  7. The tread width will be 10mm narrower.... I just went from a 195/75 R14 to the RA08's (185 R14) and visually they do look smaller. I can't see there being any big issue if you are going to replace BOTH of the front tires, but if you sidewalls are cracking up front, how are the rears holding up?
  8. I recently bought a new stereo and speaker for my 84' Sunrader. When I removed the older head unit I was greeted with standard HOME audio cable instead of the standard car audio cable that is compatible with a Toyota wiring harness kit. Has anyone else replaced their head unit and found this? Is it something that was done when the cab was converted to incorporate the MH? Just wondering if mine is like anyone else's out there. Thanks, Alex

  11. Sounds sweet! And like exactly what I need to do...... Do you know the info on what kind of shocks you had installed ie. size, cost etc.? Im hoping to do the front two myself, but Im going to leave the rears to a professional. Hope you're enjoying the updated ride....
  12. Thank. You. Waiter. I also desperately need new tires on my '84 Sunrader. I brought it by discount tire before I headed out on my first short trip to have them give the tires a once over and check the psi. I was informed my tires were 13 years old and that the cracking I was seeing was indeed as bad as I thought. I asked him what my options were as far as replacement and he quoted me $135 a tire for some Yokohamas Hopped on here and did some research and sure enough found this thread. Ordered 6 new Hankooks, out the door for $626.51. It was the same salesman, he was very polite and helpful, and even covered the shipping, but it just goes to show that it pays to do a little research. If my math is correct, you helped me save around $336, and for that I am grateful. Now if you could only help me wire these interior LED's........
  13. Getting ready for my first big trip - Colorado to Oregon and back. New tires and a new deep cycle battery. Cant wait to hit the road!

  14. I have been doing a bit of research on what type/brand of LED Clearance lights to buy for my 84 Sunrader. I read a thread on here about some people who tried Superbright LED's ( I think they were the M9 model) but were forced to manufacture aftermarket bases to make the wiring fit. I currently have Bargman (#478 series, part 34-47-801)incandescent lights on both the front and back, which replaced what ever was on there originally, because when i removed the there are two sets of screw holes Trying to find an LED that would be an easy switch. Any help would be much appreciated. Newbie, Alex
  15. The inside looks amazing! DId it come with cabinetry like that? Looking to do and overhaul of the interior of my new (to me) 84 Sunrader. What kind of motor do you have, Im interested in replacing my exhaust system, wondering what you have and what it cost? Thanks for any help!
