  1. How does one deactivate a injector?. Other than at idle it runs good if you can ignore the raw gas smells at stops.
  2. I am not sure what to do with my RV. Try to sell as is or for parts. The v6 motor has a valve that is stuck and getting no compression. I would have fixed that but it has 160,000 miles on it and the air conditioner in the front has died, the power steering leaks and doesn't work at slow speeds. Cab fan only works on high. ect. All this is fixable but the rest of the camper is going. Obvious signs of water damage in back. The floor in the back and walls have sank several inches to the point that the fiberglass has cracked above the door on the outside. Walls bow out slightly. I did a repair job on the floor in the bathroom but I would really need to rip off the inside walls and floor and start over. The fridge has died also. The generator has not started and probably needs the carburetor rebuilt. The good news is that most of this happened at the same time this summer or slowly over the past year and I haven't been stuck with a constant infuse of cash into the RV. Looking for some suggestions. I have loved the RV and it has taken me all over the US for whitewater kayaking and climbing.
  3. Worked at a job site that refurbishes train cars for Canada. Got some scrap 2/0 fine strand wire and crimps. Replaced all of my cables from cab battery to house battery. Cant argue with the price.
  4. I think another advantage of the battery in the back area is that it will be kept warmer in the winter while sitting. That would also effect the discharge rate I would think.
  5. I have a 17 gallon stock tank that I use for cleaning and washing. I use 2 collapsible, 2 gallon containers with a spigot top. I got the extra containers because the 17 gallon tank was not enough water to last for 3 days with wife and myself and 2 (90lbs) dogs. I ended up just using the 2 gallon tanks for drinking because it is easier to inspect when getting water from different sources.
  6. The material looks similar to the stuff I used on the top of my roof under the shingles at ridge. I have a whole roll left over. I like trying things that are free.
  7. I use a Maxx Fan or something like it above the bed. It came with the camper so I am not sure of brand. Moves a lot of air in or out. Great for sleeping in hot weather. It is also quite enough to sleep rite next to it. It does have some noise which is nice if there is outside noise that you want to drown out. Some Walmart parking lots that I have stayed at were the teen hangout spots till late.
  8. Used the fishing leader but epoxied it to the gass cap and backed out a screw and used it on the vehicle end.
  9. What bulbs and where did you get them. Need to replace my lamps
  10. My battery box vented thru a grill to the outside. I wanted to add a second battery so I removed the old one and built a bigger one in its place. I used an FRP covered plywood that I got from Home Depot. I put the FRP on the inside and sealed it with silicon caulk.
  11. I don't use mine either so I removed it and saved it for reinstall before selling.
  12. Got the whole electric thing figured. I'm an electrician. I usually add dry ice every 3-4 days when I go out to Colorado. I never have shore power. Always stay in national forests or BLM land. Not sure if it would be worth it to spend the money on PV instead of a 3 way RV fridge. The PV system would need to be sized for the fridge.
  13. I was looking at the cost of replacing the refridge and I started to think about replacing it with a regular electric compressor refridge and using the money saved to invest in a solar system to power it. I wanted to do solar sometime in the future and this would be a way to justify it. I already have two coach batteries and have upgraded the converter. Any ideas for or against are appreciated.
  14. I was camping last weekend and the air conditioner worked for a day and a half. In the middle of the nite I noticed that it was not putting out cool air anymore. It sounded as if there was a restriction on the air flow. I turned it off and went back to sleep, The next morning I tried it again and it worked for about a half hour before it started to leak water into the cabin. It was a very hot and muggy Wis day. It had not rained and is obviously condensation. Is there a drain that could be plugged. I dont usually run the air conditioner. I have only had it on for an hour or two before.
