  1. On the way back from a trip to Maine I encountered an issue where I could not fill the tank. It keeps coming back out the filler hole even when I go really slow. If I put it in slowly and let it drain down it empties out like a slow drain. any ideas? is there a roll over valve down there??
  2. Remember when you order them that the driver side may be left handed threads
  3. Does anyone know the do's and dont's of charging a 12 volt battery using the dc output terminals on the generator? The generator I bought on craigslist has a dc set of terminals but no manual for use. Can I hook up jumper cables to these terminals and use it to chage a car battery?
  4. Weight being of the upmost importance I cut off a 4x4 bumper, useless trailer hitch and some heavy gage angle saving at least 75lbs. The attached picture shows my low weight solution, uni strut bracketed onto the frame with square U bolts and decked with cedar 5/4 decking. The unistrut painted red is a bike rack for the tandem. It holds me without flexing and that 250lbs. haven't road tested it yet but I have complete faith in the design and execution
  5. Sawzall, safety glasses, face shield gloves! I removed mine with minimal effort, the biggest concern will be cutting the pipes at the right spot to facilitate the reinstall, make sure that you leave enough striaght pipe to glue to or clamp a rubber boot. Remember the yuck factor, hepetitis is a big concern messing around with black tanks. make sure to wear good gloves leather, sturdy... Bag it in a bunch of heavy duty bags as soon as you get it loose and don't tip it, maybe some rags to stuff in the pipes? Good luck FYI, I ditched mine and got a pak a potti, I mean how often do you want to load up a tank and haul that stuff around? pak a potti is good for late night or emergency and easy to empty anywhere there iss a head.
  6. Jimmy, Try some of these suggestions: Take the cover off and check the ignitor mine had a big lump of crap on the end, kinda like flux/corrosion popped right off. then check the spark. Have someone go inside and press the button. obviously don't touch it when they are doing it...ouch! Secondly the distance from the gas outlet to the burner is kinda long, it seemed to me that the distance was too long to get the gas to the burner so I rolled up a small paper tube and stuck it between it and poof it lit. (thats how I got first hand knowledge that the piezo lighter hurts : )
  7. have you checked the driver side side panel next to the floor boards? Also there is a fuse box in the engine compartment & also fuse box behind the glove box The most likely culprit maybe the fuses behind the brown grill located behind the driver seat on the floor this is where you main breakers for the living area, the others are Toyota fuses for the truck chassis. Make sure you have any power disconnected before you go poking around in the inverter/fuse compartment Hope this helps
  8. Too funny! I meant Striped Bass Aka Stripers! You are correct there may not be many strippers surf fishing, but I will ask any that look suspicious. Thanks for all the responses.
  9. yeah, thats my nest step I am always just so amazed at the quick response to just abot any question.. I thought I would check here first Thanks
  10. Does anyone know the bulb type and size for a 1986 sunrader? there was a buld in it when I bought it but no numbers on it, also It looks too short to be the right one. This is a tub shaped bulb with a metal cap on both ends.
  11. Planning a trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. Leaving Michigan on 08-29-09 and planning to take the 401 through Ontario. Has anyone camped on Mt Desert Island or the vacinity? Have a 1986 Sunrader. Looking to go surf fishing for Strippers so I think this will be a good time and a decent location. Thanks
  12. Does anybody know where I can get 6 left handed lug nuts M14 for my Sunrader? I live in Michigan and want to finally take this thing on its maiden voyage this weekend.. not looking too promising
  13. Any ideas on what to use to replace the rusted out metal battery compartment. I understand that it needs to be isolated from the inside environment due to the off gassing while charging and use. My old compartment was rusted out in my 1986 Sunradersince the guy that installed the battery door decided to put screws under the door frame leading to seal failure. Thought about just making a plywood box sealed with caulk and glued down to the floor. Any thoughts???
  14. Need to find out if anyone has experience or suggestions on how to replace the fabric in my 1986 Sunrader. Also any suggestion for stapling or gluing the fabric back in place as a short term fix??? Thanks,
