  1. This may prove helpful to some members here with a small generator and a large roof AC.

It's just what the title says. PnP soft start for an AC.

Useful if you have a small (under 2000w) generator and can't afford a bigger generator, don't have a place for a bigger generator, can't carry a bigger generator. This may allow you to use your little guy.

I did see a test of a 5k btu room AC running off a 800w inverter generator

  2. What are the dimensions of the radiator you need?? Get them and call these guys. Pricey, but they have been doing this for 42 years +

Note aluminium radiators are rated differently than copper/brass ones.

Maybe Linda will have a part number for copper/brass model that will fit for a bit less.

  3. Check the voltage of the battery and polarity. Tape the + battery wires together, tape the - wires together. Then remove them from the battery, plug in the RV power cord and again check voltage and polarity of the battery wires. Your trying to make sure everything agrees.

    Let us know results.

Some of the older converters have a transfer relay. IF the transfer contacts are dirty that could reduce voltage to your lights. When your measuring the voltage in the above step and it's less than 12v try hitting the converter with a large screwdriver handle, maybe you can jar the contacts to aid troubleshooting

  4. Looks like good stuff. Just make sure about the laminating glue.

More stuff Birch cabnet grade plywood. For the same thickness it has more plus. Some times called underlayment for wood floors.

I used a single sheet of vinyl flooring on mine along with cove base. I called it my swimming pool floor, easy cleaning and totally waterproof.

I had to use rug runners due to cold floors. If you use foam as part of the floor, your floor should be warmer.

  5. Use slow cure laminating epoxy. You have to seal the wood from moisture. The failure mode is wood fails, but the glue doesn't.

Years ago I helped make something like a SIP panel. We used very heavy plastic sheeting, some kids clay and a home vacuum cleaner.

Lay out the plastic sheet, it needs to be 2x the size of the thing, take the clay and make a rope out of it. Put the rope all away around 3 sides of the plastic.

Fold it over and seal it to the clay. Stick the vacuum cleaner nozzle in a corner and seal with more clay. Even at only 2" of vacuum there would be almost 10,000 pounds of pressure on a 4x8 sheet SIP. Using an air conditioner vacuum pump we crushed the foam untill we figured out how little vacuum your really need

Rip a 2x4 and use it for edging.

  6. Just saying something to think about while your still in the design stage.

Nobody ever complained that their RV was too light. Just thinking of the weight difference between 80 SQ ft of your FRP and 80 SQ ft of SIP flooring. Especially with a proper steel frame under the floor.

Gardner Pacific was famous for design changes based on cost.

  7. Linda I want you to figure my power bill😁

That's 5 amps at 120v AC. That is sorta kinda 45-55 amps from your 12v battery to power the inverter.

I was more thinking about a much smaller generator to carry around.
