  1. If you stabilze the little bugger, then you would no longer need your "If this motorhome is rockin, don't bother nockin"....sign...
  2. Hello I was also looking at a Dolphin. I had actually put money down on it, only to find out here about the 5 lug issue. Sure enough it had the 5 lug rear axil. To me that was the deal buster. I was lucky to be dealing with somenoe nice enough to retun my (small) deposit as he had other people interested. I did infomr him of the issue of the 5 lug axil... To make a long story short, about a week later at a local RV place we found out "Sweetness" 1986 Sunrader 6 lug axil....(see picture) ....
  3. Bear ... Thanks for the info, I suppose a small aluminum boat 12' - 16' would be doable. I would think motor size (weight) would also be a factor....small boat, small motor, small trailer, would be within limits. I have read that the weight limits on these motorhomes themselves come close or may even exceed rated limits (GVW)depending on how much gear is packed inside, number of people, etc. The transmission and brake concerns are not so much about pulling something, but pulling something with an already possibley overweight vehicle (not like a small car).... Just my thoughts as to why I am considering not pulling my boat....16 ft. aluminum with 50 hp. outbord (kinda big).
  4. Bear said..."Did get the frame re inforced for a tow hitch for my boat" What size boat? I have read on here that is in not only a frame issue, but overloading brakes, transmissions, etc., when pulling anything. Recomended weight for pulling a trailer is 1000 pounds maximum. I am just asking because when I first got my Sunrader I had thoughts of reinforcing the rear frame for pulling a 16ft aluminum fishing boat, but after reading commnents on here, I have all but scrapped that idea....
  5. Why all of a sudden the influx of Spam in the Forums....??????
  6. We were all set to buy a real clean Dolphin (50 miles away)....had money down....Thank God I read about the axle issue in here before we went through with the deal. I chose not to by the Toy... We provided the owner with the info as he was very understanding and as he had other people interested we even got my money back. Two weeks later we found "Sweetness"...a trade in at a local RV dealer.... The point is.....I would not even consider a risk that would put my family and other people in danger (freeway driving to get home)....as well as buying a motorhome only to invest more time and money into it before it was safe to drive...just my $0.02......
  7. As in "Got Milk", how about "Get 15 MPG ?"....and I think that the website address should appear to increase membership...
  8. I am not sure about copyright laws, but I like " Toys R Us" for a group / club name...or maybe a safer version "We R Toys"...the picture of the motohome itself would help in understanding the name....Club name on top, picture in the middle, web address on the bottom....Also, if this group is gonig to evolve into an actual "club" I would be interetsted in helping to form a "Midwest Chapter" in the upper midwest area...I will be at the Oct. Midwest Toy In....I do see a few Toyota Motorhomes locally that I have already considerd contacting about the Midwest Toy In....Back in the day I was active in a custom vam club out of Milwaukee....I formed a Racine Chapter....Ahhhh....memories....
  9. Hello...I am also kinda new here and in S.E. Wisconsin....I have seen local roof top a/c on Craigslist but they are very rare (usually when someone is parting out a motorhome)...maybe a wanted to buy add in Craigslist might help. I am curious as to where in S.E. WI. you are? I am in Racine. Have you read about the Midwest Toy-In (Central IL.)..the first wekend in Oct. I plan on being there. Good luck with your search...I will keep my eyes and ears open and if I find anything I will let you know...
  10. Thanks to all who replied....everyone was right....the black water tank was on the full side....drained it...a little better but still a slow drain....crawled underneath...found the p-trap...took it apart, cleaned it...now drains like new....Again...thanks to all....
  11. Ok..so my "awesome like new 86 Sunrader" is not quite as like new as I thought....go figure.... On a recent weekend trip I used the shower for the first time. It took a very long time for the floor to drain. I checked underneath (outside) and it seemed like a slow drip to the ground ?.... I tried mildly plunging with a plunger with no luck. Tha bathroom is located about midway on the drivers side of the coach (across from the kitchen). Is this a common problem? I have not yet looked closley at possible causes or fixes (working full time)... Any ideas or thoughts on where to look and what to look for? I am thinking it might be a major issue as my bathroom (Sunrader) seems to be a one peice fiberglass insert. I did buy it from a local dealer who assured me all was working as it should per his pre sale inspection. I do have a good working relationship with him as I have bought my last motorhome form him (18ft. LazyDaze)... If this turns into a major issue I will take it back for a professional fix. I am sure he will help at a discounted cost per his initial statements as to the condition. Thanks in advance for any thoughts....
  12. Thats funny, I thought that Sunrader was the best model ever made.....ok ok ok ...I own a 86 Sunrader.... As far as your experiance in things not going as expected in your purchase. I to am suprised you got $900.00 back. This tells me that the seller does have some integrity. Sounds like it was a case of mis-communication on her part and also your willingess to belive basically sight unseen her conception of the condition of the motorhome. I have had the exact same thing happen to me when I was the winning bidder of a e-bay boat auction. I was going by the pictures posted in the auction (looked awesome). I drove the 130 miles (cash in hand) to pick up the boat and when I seen it it did not look like the same boat in the pictures (very poor condition). I too question the seller on the condition of the boat based on the pictures. He reasurred me that the boat was in "good" condition and if I was not satisfied I would not have to buy it. Long story short, he admitted (face to face) that the pictues were old and I did not buy the baot. Moral of the story....Some time even pictures can be deceiving and I NEVER bye sight unseen (unless an agreement has be made allowng the buyer to back out of the deal based on visual inspection). Also check out my "New Member Signed Up for Midwest Toy In" post for a short story on being alll set to buy a Dolphin and ending up not buying it, I think you should be happy you got your $900.00 back and not stuck with a motorhome that was in poor condition. Maybe, based on your time schedule, it might be more benificial to chalk it up to experiance lesson learned than to persue the $100.00...
  13. I like it too....Maybe keep fonts the same...bold "Toy In" seems a littler easier to read..????
  14. Hello all....we are the proud new owners of "Sweetness", an awesome like new 1986 21 Ft. Sunrader Classic with the rear dinette floor plan. Pictures and more info to come....We are in Racine WI and I just reserved a site for the Midwest Toy In. We are already excited about the trip. 1st of many short storys... We lucked out and thank God for this website because we were in the process of buying (started loan process) a 1985 Dolphin. After finding this site and reading all I could, I discovered the 5 lug rear end issue. I called the seller (60 miles away) and sure enough...the Dolphin had the 5 bolt rear axle. I provided him with links to the information and he understood my decision not to buy his motorhome (he was even nice enough to return my down payment). This all took place within a matter of days so he had other people interested as well. Needless to say we were heartbroken the deal fell through...within a week we were driving past a local camper dealer (about 5 miles from home) and unbeleivabley (sp?) there was a toyota motorhome on his lot. We stopped and fell in love all over again (we liked her even more than the Dolphin). We did end up spending a little more for "Sweetness" (total $6,700...) (asking price was $7,500.00)(6 lug rear axile and much better condition than the Dolphin), but we love the floor plan (different than the Dolphin) with the rear dinette and the 180 degree view out of the back and we feel she was well worth the money. More to come Loddie and Rhonda
