  1. I'm guessing it doesn't say Chinook anywhere. Very possible you do have a small camper that looks just like a Chinook. General RV bought the shell molds from Chinook and made them through 1984. Not a lot of them, but they do exist. Oh and General RV is the same company as Odyssey. Linda S
  2. Doesn't look shortened to me. Same as my Tiger just converted to left hand drive Mine looked like this Linda S
  3. Looks almost identical to the Tiger I used to own but in reverse. Linda S
  4. David is on the other side of the country. Can you show me some pics of your damage? Linda S
  5. Love the camper but blue and red interior. Yuck Linda S
  6. My generator has a switch next to it that needs to be on to power the camper. If yours is an Onan it should have a circuit breaker right on the gen set Linda S
  7. I'm pretty sure there's no dirt on his chassis. Linda S
  8. If you're interested here are the original Toyota Docs. The 8 years or 100.000 miles was a Special Policy Adjustment and that did have a limited availability. Mid 1990 to some all the way through 1995 had no such termination date. Toyota V6 Head Gasket SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN V06.pdf Even though they have ended this program I would be likely to argue it if it was me. No end date on original docs sounds like a legal loophole to me Linda S
  9. The earlier years expired sooner but the mid-nineties to at least 1993 expired 9/2018. I posted this and forgot Document: (nhtsa.gov) Linda S
  10. The existing roofs are stronger than you think. My Nissan spent most of it's life in Alaska and before I got it, it had been abandoned in a field for 2 years in upstate New York. Where I grew up and known for it's massive lake effect snowfall. No beams on it at all and roof doesn't sag. Top heavy can make driving dangerous with our puny suspensions. Just saw your post. Not as much weight as I thought. I go on my roof all the time. Like sitting up there especially for fireworks and of course to clean it. When I bought my Toyota I weighed 220lbs. Never felt like I was doing any harm. Linda S I weigh nowhere near that anymore.
  11. Your clearly doing an excellent job but eleven seems excessive. We are all top heavy and I would worry about the extra weight up there. The later Sunraders came with 2 beams , 1 for the shorties, and I have never seen one fail. Linda S
  12. It might have already been done. Have them run the vin at a dealership. They should be able to tell you. So long ago good to print out the special service campaign docs and take them with you. If they say it's too late make it clear there is no expiration date anywhere on it. Linda S
  13. I am coming up with completely different part numbers on my Toyota site. Why https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~shoe~kit~rear~brake~04495-35141.html Linda S If you scroll down you will see these are for the Wt models. Wt is dually wheel only
  14. Who ever told you the head gasket repairs ended in 2004 was very wrong. We have members here who were still getting it done in 2017. Also overheating the engine has nothing to do with them failing. The material was faulty. because there are still motorhomes out there with under 50,000 miles some of those bad gaskets simply haven't failed yet. Linda S
  15. Got it https://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=19740 Linda
  16. Look in gallery or just search posts. This site is a victim of entropy. Finding things keeps getting harder. Linda
  17. I'm very familiar with the Coachmen Caper. They are sweet little rigs. That engine was also used on big vehicles like dump trucks and has lots of torque for off roading. Sweet restoration. This is a 4x4 upgrade but there was also another vehicle in the same timeline called a Creiger. Same size and platform and 4x4 from the factory. Plus an all fiberglass body. Linda S
  18. Type in factory service manual in the search box. You'll come up with a bunch, some still good, some defunked. Linda S You guys got to start learning how to use the search function. Us old farts could drop dead anytime and then who ya gonna ask
  19. Your not locked into that weight. Truth is your rear axle in good condition can handle much more. Somewhere on this site John found evidence that the Toyota 8 inch axle could handle up to 4000 lbs but I can't find his post. If you want to do some off road driving with a single wheel in the back you could upgrade to 15 inch wheels all around. 2wd Tacomas had 5 lug 15 inch wheels. Maybe junk yard? Little more clearance and also more stability. When you're ready I can find you the tires. Linda S
  20. The foolie is not rated to any weight. It can fail on a regular truck. Less pressure in the outer wheel helps but a bumpy road can put the stress right back on the bearings. A single wheel will be fine for you. Wider will give more stability but I recommend adding a stabilizer bar too. Also recommend you get the axle serviced with new bearings to make sure your not already driving on damaged ones Linda S
  21. If you watch the video of dismantling it you can see that a battery screw driver will not give you the correct access to all the hidden bolts and screws. Smaller rachet with multiple extensions seems to be what he uses and even those are a difficult reach for some of them. I certainly wouldn't want to have to do this job. Is your core leaking or just clogged. Linda S
  22. Stupid expensive. I'd offer way less. On the other hand the nissan tank is brand new. Too wet here for me to get exact measurements. Linda S
