  1. Man why didn't you think of that earlier. That looks a ton better than any stock thing we could have found. Very cool. Linda S
  2. If you post a picture I can look for it. I don't know exactly what your talking about Linda S
  3. Here's some very reasonably priced white molding. I think most of our motorhomes used white http://www.ebay.com/itm/28-Ft-White-1-4-Hollow-Bead-Welt-Vinyl-Trailer-RV-Cabinet-Wall-Corner-Trim-Gimp-/231598573211 Linda S
  4. The best TV is one that doesn't need your inverter. Pick your size. I no longer look for brand names. My no name TV has already lasted far longer than my former expensive Sony http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC1.A0.H0.Xac+dc+tv.TRS0&_nkw=ac+dc+tv&_sacat=0 Linda S
  5. This is the stuff but doesn't seem to be a lot available. https://www.google.com/#q=rv+cabinet+bead+molding Linda S
  6. I'm guessing that rolling trick would be even easier with a high top camper on it. You could tell people your camper was taking a nap Linda S
  7. Front wheel bearings? My old van the sound would stop when you backed off on the throttle. made very high pitched sound Linda S

I have seen Toyota Uhaul trucks at pick and pull a few times There are also several Toyota only wrecking yards in Rancho Cordova. Can't hurt to give them a call Linda S Oop's found 2 more places A-1 Auto Dismantlers, Inc. 9. Your 84 has standard rims in the front. In the back you either have fake duallies with 5 lug hubs or you have a 6 lug axle upgrade and true duallies in the back. I'm kind of surprised. You've been here for a while. You should know your RV better than this by now Linda S
  10. Well like I said my Nissan has the same seal and that is where it was leaking, both sides. No more leaks after my fix. Linda S
  11. Our weird door locks are a 2 rotor latch system and the regular compartment door tumblers just won't fit. Look here and you can see how different they are. http://www.trimarkcorp.com/en/zcategory.aspx?intcategoryid=20 Linda S Some have managed to make a dead bolt fit. Look at post #14 http://toyotamotorhome.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1415&page=2
  12. Probably just the axle seals but no reason why you can't do the bearings if you can do some of the work. I have never done my Toyota but I also have a Nissan full floater and I pulled the axles and replaced the seals by myself. I should have done the bearings too just because I was that far into it but oh well next time. Almost the same design as the Toyota axle. I am not a mechanic by any means, just determined. Bearings are in the hub and after you pull the axles you could take just the hubs into a machine shop and have the bearings replaced. Only the inside bearing needs to be pressed out. Outside one, at least on the Nissan falls out by itself. I see no reason to alter Toyota's design for these axles. It's lasted you 150,000 miles so they must have done something right. As long as you've got it all apart do the brakes too. Big job but I am proof a non mechanic can do it. Linda S
  13. Through 1980 they also made 5th wheels, travel trailers and full sized park models. Starting in 1985 they also made a 19 foot van camper until the factory closed. The Bandit wasn't their only source of income. They didn't go out of business until 1990 but in the last 12 years I have only seen 2 V6 Bandits. An 89 and a 1990. They might have made more but couldn't have been many or we would have seen more of them. Linda S
  14. My clearance lights on my Nissan Sunrader don't work and I have never been stopped for it. This includes driving it from New York to California when I first bought it. Linda S
  15. I agree with JD. I did many tests driving on highway 5 from San Jose to Sacramento Ca. All flat level road and I always got better mileage with the overdrive off. I never use it anymore at all Linda S
  16. Not usable to replace the lock mechanism in our doors. Linda S
  17. There was a high efficiency vented catalytic heater made a while back. The website is still active but I don't see them for sale anywhere. Don't know if they are still in business or not. I also can't imagine where you would put one in a tiny Sunrader http://ventedcatheater.com/6.html Lots of non vented ones but you have to leave a window cracked. Kind of defeats the purpose Linda
  18. Furnaces haven't changed much over the years. The exhaust is hotter because that is the air that was in direct contact with the flame. Air in your camper is fresh blown through the furnace with no flame contact so you don't die in your sleep. The best way to preserve your energy is to insulate by covering those lovely big Sunrader window with something. I use reflectix in cold weather. Cut to size and velcro on so you can slap them up and remove easily. Linda S If you look around there are a lot of places you can add insulation. look under your seat tops. Mine had some fiberglass insulation there that had degraded. I added some reflectix behind the rear lower wall and around the furnace. On the other side along the side of the water heater, under the drawer beneath the stove. Lots of places to insulate if you dig around
  19. Well this isn't a big V8 engine. These Toyota engines are made to run at higher RPM's. Stresses the engine more to run too low and lug the engine. If you are running stock 185r14 tires, your tach is off. With 4.10 gearing your RPM's at 60mph should be around 2350. I find it hard to believe you can even keep it at 60 in overdrive. Just the wind resistance is enough to slow you down. The constant back and forth from overdrive to 3rd also heats up the trannie and can destroy it. Linda S
  20. I have the original docs for my 86 Sunrader. The furnace is a Hydro Flame Excalibur 8500 series, 16,000 btu made by Atwood The water heater is an American Appliance which is now Suburban. Model now would be an SW4. I thought these were discontinued but more just started showing up online. This is 3 gallons. The 6 gallon is too deep to fit behind your bench seat. If by any possibility you have a wrap around dinette seat instead of the bench on each side, some early 86's did, then you should be able to fit the 6 gallon. Measure yours. Little one is 16 something deep and the bigger one is 19 something deep Linda S
  21. I have a friend with a Chinook shell on a 1987 4x4 chassis with the 22re. Keeping up to highway speeds is not a problem. Extra wind resistance with the pop top shell is minimal compared to a regular cab over motorhome. Linda S
  22. What's a Toyota Tioga. Don't think I've ever seen one before seen though Tioga is a common brand. Love to see a picture of it Linda S
  23. An 86 or newer Toyota motorhome would already have the full float axle so no upgrading is needed Linda S Well unless it happens to be one of the very rare 4x4 motorhomes. Many 4x4 owners have upgraded to a full float but these stronger axles might be an option on the Odyssey 4x4's which came with single wheels in the back
  24. There was one of these Dolphins for sale in Reno last summer. Coachmen also offered a small class C on the same GM chassis in 1982 with a diesel engine. Linda S
