  1. SAS would be much better. IFS would be a huge pain in the behind. Dont know if any tanks or lines are in the way. My guess would be in the 2500 dollars range or more with everything Parts needed SAS from Marlin or Trail gear http://www.trail-gear.com/sas.html Gear driven Toyota Transfer case. Could either do a tranny swap to G2 or W56 or R151 with gear driven case or get a divorced Adapter for Tcase http://www.ottindustries.com/divorcetoyota.htm Drive shaft mod to the rear and new CV Drive shaft to the front Pre 85 Straight axle. 4x4 IFS steering box New Cross member from junk yard or 4x4 Toyota Vendor Gears for Diffs not needed but would be nice Vented Rotors with IFS Calipers Brake Master cylinder with 1in bore
  2. I had a honda eu 2000 for about 4 years worked great only would not start up once. I tipped it over while running and flooded it. Started up about an hour later. It would run my AC on the roof for about and hour then shut down and I would have to give it a few minutes. It was really hot outside too. Great little machine. Sold it so I could buy a honda welder combo.
  3. I really doubt a 22r is pushing 130 HP with automatic and 140000 miles maybe 100HP on a good day. It is the slowest thing that I have ever driven by far and there was nothing wrong with mine. My breaks worked really good though have you checked your pads maybe one of your calipers is leaking in air
  4. That means you are burning anti freeze. Might as well do the timing chain, oil pump, water pump, head gasket and what ever else you are supposed to do. What color is your oil? Have you checked your compression. good luck
  5. Picked up a GM 14 bolt at 7-11 off the back of some guys scrap metal truck. Then was about to get the motor home and noticed the floor was not flat. I don't think there was one piece of not dry rotted wood on this thing. O well pretty sure it would work with a bigger master cylinder remounting the purchs but not to sure if the pumpkin would be to big with the spring under axle. I just got a new tandem axle trail that should keep me busy until the first of summer.
  6. How is the rust situation on the RV from it being on the big island and 26 years old??
  7. Make sure you tires are in good shape no more than 3 years old if you plan on carrying lots of weight. That has been our only draw back we have carried about 1/2 ton in the dolphin with people, water, propane, and a bunch of other stuff we did not need. Even if the have lots of tread still have them checked out.
  8. I have heard of people putting Toyota sienta center counsel in there toyotas but they are really expensive from the dealer.
  9. looks really good congratulations on the fix. Is the frame bent? It is not that hard to take off the front Clip from another toyota. I did it with my 85 4x4 when I dovenosed it. A front clip is not that hard to find just need a little mig welder. I just dont know the rust situation on toyotas in your part of the country. Looks good

  11. I had a 84 dolphin and it would bolt in a bench seat or buckets. not to sure about the yours.
  12. I know its an old post but I have never scene a toyota timing chain fail. What happens is the tensioner wears out causing the chain to break its plastic guides. Then the chain wears it way into the timing cover and cause antifreeze to leak into the oil. You can hear the 22r clicking when the guides are broke. I just changed my timing belt on a 3.4L toyota motor at 90000 miles because the manual said to and it still looked brand new. Have fun in mexico
  13. Wow that is crazy I had a tire blow out on me and I guess I got luck besides getting ripped off more that I ever have from a tire shop in Kingman AZ. Does the harness control the brake lights? Should not be to hard to rewire as for the wheel well that is a huge job. Maybe now is a good time to wire up some solar panels. Good luck
  14. Don't do it it will not bolt to the tranny and the 3.0 does not have the best history or gas mileage. If you are going to up grade go with the yota 3.4 to a R150 of R151 and a bell housing from Marlin Crawler. Don't need to go much faster than 55-60 just have more patience. These things don't stop to fast
