  1. Coach parts: 1) There is an aluminum triangle which sits in the juncture between the cab over and the down section on the main body. Instead of a straight butting from the cab into the down section, it creates a curve where the edge trim will be in one piece and curved in the transition. It is held to the body by one very large wood screw. Mine is missing, Someone I guess needed scrap metal. 2) front bumper with turnlights/ yellow lenses and valiance . Where can I come up with these parts. 1) I may have to carve the triangle out of wood if I can't get the part. 2) for the bumper, l may need to get something built from a shop which will have a reduced frontal area such that the radiator can get adequate cooling. Thanks!
  2. On 911 calls: 911 will get through when standard voice calls won't because the cell phone companies will not allow you on if there is voice call - insufficient quality. That does not hold true for 911/ the parameters for strength and quality are dropped as it is considered an emergency call (potential life threatening situation). Put the phone out at fingers and away from your head, make call on hands free device or loud speaker. This may increase signal out to 8dB due to head losses from RF signal. If you know where your cell tower is located you may be able to put yourself out doors and on the side of the RV / reflector which has best coverage. You can likely hot spot your mobile as well if you can't get WI FI with a better signal if the mobile is being reflected into. the main thing is that you have connectivity to the nearest carrier tower for 911. If there is no signal, than you can't get any signal. you can only enhance that which is or get a clearer path. Getting phone into a better location e.g. hilltop so there is LOS (Line of Site) is key. If you get a newer model phone from a top manufacturer you can help your case. Reason is the carriers have moved to lower frequency spectrum 600, 800 MHz and this has about 3 to 6 dB the radiation power of previous spectrum for some of the carriers across similar terrain. In addition there have been rural buildouts and we will have more rural buildouts on the way due to the 5G push etc. All this goes for personal micro repeaters as well. Electronics have improved quite a lot and the small repeater systems if FCC approved may make things all the better for us the consumer. There are other things to consider too like sat phones etc; however, this is just a little fire starter. Please feel free to add or if you have questions, happy to assist.
  3. Really happy to see all the radio knowledge here, back in 02 I was on the NYT Circuits magazine discussing the WiFi boom. I had made an RF antenna out of an aluminum dog feeder dish of about 1.5 ft radius and a slight curvature which created a focus. In addition, I had created a reflector horn out of a soup can and made a dipole with some coax. I put it all together using a math formula having to do with the 2GHz wavelength and it worked nicely. I used a fiberglass pole to pick it up off the ground and insured that an open path down the driveway was available. just some thoughts, the open path is the best (as many have noted), if you have water for the groundwave propagation that is also very nice esp sea/ salt water. A nearby chain link fence will take out the ground wave even if it is not in your line of site (LOS). Just a thought added that every halfing of height is about a 3dB drop in reception. All things being equal, Getting as high off the groundplane is the best thing to do. Be sure that the base is sturdy as if you have a directional antenna wind will flex and move your antenna out of its max sensitivity and the link may break. The higher the gain of your antenna, the narrower your beam width (main beam 3dB gain point). Another alternative is to place the RV at right angles to the base antenna thereby letting the RV act as a reflector. The more metal in the structure the better, you can try aluminum foil or roll-able metal window screen mosquito netting. If you have a signal strength meter software on your PC/ MAC etc you can experiment with the placement, rotation by trial and error. On 911 calls, this may help anyone with cellular phone as well. 911 will get through when voice calls won't because the cell phone companies will not allow you on if there is voice call insufficent quality. That does not hold true for 911/ the parameters for strength and quality are dropped as it is considered an emergency call. If you have any questions please feel free to ask I am an RF Engineer who works on cellphone systems e.g., NEXTEL-Sprint-TMO, Verizon, AT&T and also the equipment providers Ericsson, ALU-NOKIA etc.
  4. Looks like we are getting closer. I was looking around on the web and also on the web site and did not see the brackets/braces/supports I was hoping to see. Hopefully Neil P can get us squared away Much thanks
  5. P22 shows some of this ; however, not the exact pieces. 3, 4, 5 is what I have. Thanks Linda, Neil P
  6. So are these the hinges that you're speaking of Linda? They are always on the couch between the halves of the bed . I see they have Bolt holes in them but I don't see where on the existing wood where one would fasten them through. Is there another hinge that I'm not aware of? The way I was reading your earlier response it seems to me that it is either the hinge that attaches between the halves of the couch or it is a hinge that attaches between the base on the couch frame and the wood box below or directly to the floor. I'm still in a little bit of Unknowing.
  7. so does the couch lay directly on the wooden frame and fastened in? or are there metal mounts which fit in between the couch and frame?
  8. Thanks kindly, I have taken photos of what I have as they are slowly creeping into my email box and will past them here. I have had the wood around the outside/ base all upholstered as well as the couch in a grey to match the front seats. Any minute now I hope!! Here they are
  9. I need to locate the base for my jack knife couch. I have a 93 itasca 321RB. Couch is located on driver's side Seems the fella that took couch out may have misplaced, I may have misplaced, or the upholsterer misplaced. Just need to know what it looks like, so I can look around easier. I am told it is angle iron. The wood around the couch base is OK Please assist as soon as you can. Thanks in Advance! pv2
